Whereas you can always retain the feeling of sharp focus with a diffusion filter, the effect of a pastel filter is more clearly distributed over the whole picture. These pastel tones can have a very harmonious effect on the image. Pastel filters reduce contrast in a way which is quite visible. The difference between light and dark areas is reduced to an almost equal level by the very pronounced scattering of light. Shadows lose detail thus contributing to the light and airy atmosphere of the image. Cokin Pastel filters come in two grades: #'s 086 and 087, with the 087 having the greater effect. Variations in exposure are to be expected. It is recommended that a meter reading be taken without the filter in place and that your exposures be bracketed.
This filter measures 66 x 72mm and fits the Cokin A series holder.

Comments about Cokin A087 Pastel 2 Resin Filter:
I have used this in art shots and landscapes, and it works great! Sunrise in the mountains has a whole new look through this filters, and mixing it with the gels can create some stunning imagery.
