Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky while exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark and under-exposed. Cokin graduated gray ND filters are part clear, part neutral density. They allow the transition to be blended into the scene, often imperceptibly. A ND.6-to-clear, with a two stop differential, will generally compensate the average bright sky-to-foreground situation and is also the most popular density of the series.
This filter measures 66 x 72mm and fits the Cokin A series holder.
The Cokin 121 series of filters comes in five variations of graduation:

Comments about Cokin A121 Grey Graduated G2 Resin Filter:
It darkened the sky nicely in my test shots. I could not detect any loss of image quality or sharpness caused by shooting through the filter. It made the sky appear to be a deeper blue and gave more contrast to the clouds. Cokin filters worked for me back in the Kodachrome era, and are still a viable choice in the digital age.

Comments about Cokin A121 Grey Graduated G2 Resin Filter:
If you live where it is cloudy a good part of the year or you need more contrast between objects and the sky, Cokin's graduated neutral density filter is a must. The filter accentuates clouds, useful especially when the sky is totally overcast.
The one reason I cannot give the Cokin filter 5 stars is the fact that the manufacturer puts a sleeve over the filter case with the ends open in such a fashion that the two halves of the case slip right out of the sleeve. I had to order two replacement filters because the original and first replacement came shipped in a large bag with the filter floating around loosely inside by the time it got to me.

Comments about Cokin A121 Grey Graduated G2 Resin Filter:
As soon as I received this filter I went out and used it. I've been working on shooting the storms here in South Florida and using the storms as the backdrop for some ominous looking photos of the older construction in the area. The filter gave me the exact effect I was looking for. It made the shots easier. It's a great filter to have in the bag.
