I own a fairly large Manfrotto tripod that I lug around from time to time. The shoulder strap I use for it does a good job of alleviating a lot of the stress on my shoulder and allows me to balance it as I bounce along whatever rugged hillside I'm cavorting about that day (nature/landscape photography). So when I bought a pair of fairly large binoculars I decided to give the makers of my tripod's shoulder strap a nod and buy a neck strap of their making. The shoulder strap, it turns out, was made by Op/Tech.The product description states that the Classic Strap is made for heavier equipment and it shows. The main part of the strap that goes around the back of your neck is made of a cushioning neoprene that does a good job of alleviating the load of my heavy pair of binos. It has plenty of "give" but not too much. Attaching the strap to the spy glasses was easy enough. They give you plenty of strap to work with. Too much, in fact for me - I am short in stature. After a couple of outings with the binoculars (I'm an avid birder), I cut the excess from the nylon elements of the strap and used a candle flame to seal the frayed ends. I'm not sure they designed it this way but it almost seems like they did. (You can do this with nylon webbing - just don't get it too close to the flame or it WILL catch fire).Op/Tech states that the strap makes things feel 50% lighter and while I can't exactly pin point a percentage, I must say it DOES come pretty close to cutting half the weight! In the short time I've been using the strap this summer I must say the neoprene neck pad doesn't seem to be a too much of a sweat sponge. Given enough hot days in the field though, it will start to smell. That's easily remedied by washing it in the kitchen sink with a drop of liquid dish washing soap (and water, obviously). It's usually dry early the next morning, ready for another day's birding. [...] The quality, durability, and weight distribution make it a product of note. In fact, you'll remember it when you're looking for a neck strap to go with that digital SLR you've been saving up for. Add to that the fact Op/Tech is STILL manufacturing it entirely in the USA and you'll see why it's a classic. Seriously, when was the last time you noticed the brand of your neck strap?

It is a pretty decent strap and a good value for the money. It allows me to wear my camera over my shoulder comfortably and leave my camera bag in the car. It has just enough extra room over the factory Canon strap to work well. The only short coming it the padding could be a tad longer. What was there was great and perfect for just walking around. But if you needed it in a slightly different position (like when getting in and out of a car) the padding wouldn't be there. Overall it is a good product. With just a tad more padding (like 6-9" more), it would be a great strap.

So comfortable. Use it with my Lumix GH2 - considering the cost of the lumix, the included strap is a piece of junk - this one is the perfect fit. Very happy with purchase.

Makes use of camera quick in various situations. Lessens stress because of wider strap. Only wish had ordered years ago. Well worth price. Disconnect system works as described.

Comments about OP/TECH USA Classic Strap (Black):
This strap has many advantages over the strap that comes with your camera. First is the fact that it is neoprene which makes it very comfortable even when a large telephoto lens is attached to your camera. Second it breathes which keeps the moisture away from your skin which is helpful when it is very hot and sticky. Third is the fact that it has no markings on it like the straps that come with the camera. You do not feel like you are wearing a billboard that tells potential thieves and muggers from a distance, "look at this expensive camera I have". I greatly recommend this strap.

I'm using this strap as a replacement for the default Canon 60D strap and the difference is night and day.It feels great around the neck and distributes the weight evenly. Do yourself a favor and order this strap now!The one thing that could be better is for it to come with a different connector to the camera. The default one works fine, but I prefer th Uni--Loops adn Adapt-its. Those you'll have to order separately [...]

Exceptionally confortable to wear, can carry my D-70 all day with no fatigue. my 70-300mm does not add any appreciable discomfort, although it does tip foreward as it would with any strap. Quick dissconnect seems solid overall quality is excellant.

With a D700 and reasonable prime (up to, say, the 105VR), this strap makes the camera feel almost weightless. You can walk around for quite a while and feel virtually nothing. That seems like about the limit though - add a speedlight to the equation and it starts to feel heavy again. Far better than the included Nikon straps.

It actually does make the camera feel lighter. I've tried other neoprene straps, but they weren't as good. Definately worth getting.
