Profoto White Softlight "Beauty Dish" Reflector - 20.5"
The Profoto White Softlight reflector a.k.a. "Beauty Dish" is designed to give a wide, uniform and softlight as well as shadow definition, when mounted to a Profoto flash head. The gradual fall-off makes it perfect for close-up beauty photography.
- The center disc that blocks out the direct light can be replaced by a semi-opaque opal glass disc to create a center hot spot which also eliminates a donut-hole effect in specular highlights.
- Each reflector can be supplemented by a honeycomb grid to create soft, toned-down edge-lighting.
- The Softlight Grid accessory yields 10° coverage for more directed light.

The white paint on the inside of the reflector is very delicate and is easy to damage.
If you are buying/using this with the D1, be sure to get the glass dome or your subject will end up with an undesirable dark spot in the center.

I use this beauty dish mainly for beauty shoots. The light falls from it very smoothly. The contrast between shadows and mid-tones is soft. No harsh spots or destructed details. Worth the price.

This is a must have modifier for anyone using Profoto equipment. The build is great and can take a 10ft fall with only minor chips on the interior white coating. If using with the D1's make sure you buy the glass dome otherwise you will be disappointed with the center dark spot. Picking up the 25 degree grid makes the light all the more useful when trying to control it and get ready to drop some dough on a Tenba softlight case for transporting it.

This reflector is great. I've tried it on still life's and it makes everything natural looking, with form and great highlights too. I think I do feel that I paid a little too high of a price for what the product really is. I usually buy only top of the line equipment and I can tell when something came out of a production line... but I guess that's just how it is. I still have to try it on portraits which I think will do this coming weekend.

Just used this dish and I am impressed with the amount of light and softness in the images are! I used it with a fashion grey backdrop and the results are fantastic! Although a little pricy, it does what its supposed to do, and have no regrets.

What they don't tell you is that if you have Profoto D1 lights you need a glass dome for your light head to get the dish to work as expected. If you don't use the glass dome you get a huge dark spot in the middle of the light. light readings further away from the center actually increase as you move out a bit. However the dome fixes all of these problems... but for an additional $150 bucks...

Fantastic tool for creating great light. This dish has quickly become my favourite modifier, and I tend to use it more than softboxes. The light is soft and flattering close to the subject, but has a little more edge when pulled further back.
Easy to setup, and get onto the head. I highly recommend the 25° grid to help cut down the bleed and change the fall of the light nicely.
