great vest ....no more lugging around heavy shoulder bags. Should have bought one of these twenty years ago. And the vest even looks hip!

Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (XX-Large, Khaki):
I'm a very avid photographer, shooting landscapes, nature, and doing portrait sessions from time to time.
I wanted a vest that would broaden my equipment carrying abilities, to augment my shoulder bag or Cotton Carrier systems, depending which I'm using.
I did a fair bit of online research, and found this vest to be the most consistently highly-rated.
Having used this for about a month, I am very happy with the purchase. It is very soft, pre-washed cotton, and is *extremely* comfortable. In fact, I seem to be loathe to take this off; it is amazingly comfortable fabric, and the 15 pockets are well arrayed to be functional and a pleasure to use.
Velcro closures, tons of storage space, mesh back for comfort and ventilation and good weight distribution when loaded up make this an outstanding vest. Probably the only downside is the cotton material, which would be an issue in the jungle/wet environs. I treated mine with Scotch Guard for outdoor clothing for enhanced water repellancy.
There are other vests made of nylon waterproof/breathable material, but in fact, I always find those "breathable" materials not to come close to cotton for comfort. They often retain odor, they don't always breathe so well and often require special washing techniques.
And this vest doesn't have monster padded pockets like other photo vests, but I didn't want something that extreme looking; its nice to have a photo vest that works as well as this, in addition to being able to wear it travelling, or to the corner store without looking like I'm on a combat photo mission in Iraq. So, no padding, which is a con I suppose, but I knew that going in so I don't hold that against the product.
Great vest. I can't stop using it. Provides a happy home for my array of Singh Ray filters, extra lens and all manner of other kit I seem to pack along on even the shortest walks.

I found it to be very suited for the Scott Kelby's Photowalk. I was able to load up the vest so I could go in light and without a backpack full of gear.I was able to switch lenses and move faster, than a pack allows. I was able to cover more ground during the Photowalk as well.

Just one issue kept me from giving the vest five stars. On my copy of the vest, the side adjustment does not provide any adjustment. The two adjustment sections are too close together. This is certainly a quality control issue. I plan to cut off and re-sew the forward half on each side forward about two inches.
The smooth, lint free lining on the inside of the front pockets is great.

This my second vest. The first is still being used but I required a larger spare. The vest is very worker friendly in that the many pockets provided me with location for filters, three lenses, flash, water, radio, gloves, hat, maps, file pad and pens along with other gear for the photo hunt. Photo hunt took me through caves, mountain tops, deserts, and long walks through trees and rocks.

Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (XX-Large, Khaki):
This is a vest with more than ample, sturdy pocket space for a Canon 100mm Macro and a 580 EX II. Plus, there are deep pockets on the inside, as well. I didn't want to carry a bag, but knew I would needed to bring along a few extra lenses and filters. This vest accommodates all the addition things I needed to have, with its 15 pockets. It is well constructed and the fit allows the wearer to don a shirt and light jacket with no problem. Though, in the summer, it is a bit warm, especially when fitted with a full kit. But, all things considered, (and do you really want to be taking pictures in mid-day August.), this is a great investment that will be around for years to come.
Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (XX-Large, Khaki):
I really like how versatile the vest is with plenty of pockets and places to hold all the equipment, lenses and other items serious photographers need and want on a shoot. The vest will in many cases permit one from bring a camera bag or backpack. The vest is extremely well made and is a great value for the price.
The only thing I am not wild about is the length of the vest, regardless of size. I bought a XXL and when it arrived it fit great in the arms and waist but was pretty long-about 5" below my waist. I ordered the XL and it was about the same length. I wish the length was about 2-3 inches less but this is a minor inconvenience.
This is a great vest overall and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile vest at a very reasonable price
Comments about Domke Photogs Vest (XX-Large, Khaki):
This vest is made of material that is a bit heavier than most other vests I have looked at. Mine has been machine washed numerous times, hung out to dry. I have had mine for 2 years now and wouldn't hesitate buying another again if needed. The pockets on this vest are just endless. Several are zippered and the rest are velcro flap. Besides having lots of pockets, many are expandable to carry an asortment of lens with enough room to spare. I usually pack a few bottles of drinking water in the rear pockets, a flash gun with accessories in the front. Some extenders and an extra lens in the front pockets. There is a nice zippered pocket on the top inside perfect for memory cards. There are huge pockets on the front lower inside of the vest also. What makes this vest comfortable compared to others is that it doesn't have the straps going across the top of the shoulders. If you carry a tripod or monopod as much as I do which is a lot, then you would know what I mean. There are a couple of metal rings at the upper front on each side. I clip a small carabineer on one of the rings to hold a monopod strap if I am changing lens or extenders. I see many people substitute a fishing vest for one of these due to cost, this vest is a true photographers vest.
