Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Filter factor is between 2.3 and 2.8 (approx. +1.3 stops).
Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems).
This filter is specific to Cokin's "P" Series filter holder and rotates within the holder.

I bought this polarizer as part of my Cokin system. I already had a Hoya circular polarizer, but it made sense to get something to go with the Cokin system. The advantage of this is that the polarizer is easy to clean (the Hoya and other like it always get a little fogged up inside, in-between the two rotatable filters, and since the two filters cannot be disassembled the gunk cannot be cleaned).
A little difficult to insert and a little stiff to rotate, that's why gave it 4 stars. Overall, I love it and would recommend it to those who already use the Cokin system.

I even wonder is this Circular Pol or Linear Pol by seeing the result.

This is my second time purchasing this, I recently broke my previous filter when it fell out of the holder. This works great, and I like the Cokin P filter holder. Very easy to use and it works like it should.

I consider my self a skilled photo enthusiast that loves to take photos of practically anything. I bought this polarizer to deal with the harsh light of the sun when in the southern part of the US. I used it last weekend to shoot a family reunion and have to say this polarizer is awsome, looking at the photos, the blues are very vibrant and the whites are very crisp.
I would definitely purchase others ofthis quality in the future.
At this time I have not used it for a long period of time to give negative feed back on this product.

This CPL is a very good product and works just fine in the Cokin system. Even when stacked with a ND filter or other it works just fine although other seem to have a bit of difficulty. Clear, crisp quality of glass. Thx.

Using for my "P" Series. I have no complaints about the rotation edges "being too sharp." Easy to rotate, and great quality of build and image production. I think it's perfect!

Comments about Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
The cokin circular polarizer worked as expected with the filter holder. The filter was a bit difficult to rotate in the holder, and the teeth around the edge of the filter could be a bit sharp on the finger tips.
The polarization seemed to be slightly less pronounced than some other circular polarizing filters I have used. But it still had a noticeable affect on blue skies and clouds and reflections on water.

Perfect... took a few tries getting used to twisting the cap properly as to not accidentally unscrew the filter... but with a little practice and the proper finger positioning it worked flawlessley...

Comments about Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
I read that the p-size might vignette at the widest angle, so I was pleased after testing a holder on my 18-200mm lense that I did not have that issue even at the widest angle. Unfortunately, my pre-purchase test did not involve a circular filter, so i was a little disappointed to see the filter's edges in my pictures. This is still only an issue on the circular filters, whereas the square ones are fine.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would buy it again. I was worried about quality given there are much more expensive options, but a professional photographer friend recommended the Cokin and it works just fine. A little fussy to get out of the holder.

Great product, was concered with colour balance issues however they are minimal and easily fixed with a grey-card anyway. which everyone should be using anyway..presets are not accurate enough

Comments about Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
One of the compromises of using any filter is that it might negatively effect image quality. I found this to be especially true with my general brand circular polarizer. That was completely unacceptable when shooting artwork and furniture.
I've been using this Cokin filter for a few weeks now and can say that it preforms very well. My images are sharp with no distortions. I have to admit though, that my older double glass filter did a marginally better job at removing reflections. I gladly accept the trade-off.
When using it, you have to turn the filter holder clockwise to reach the desired effect or you'll end up unscrewing it from the lens.
Solid 4 stars.

Comments about Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
Works better than a screw-on polarizer and it is much more cost effective if you have many different sized lenses (not L or 77mm Lenses) Basically, if I needed another one I would buy it without hesitation however; now that have it and use it with the P series adapter I do not need another Polarizer again. Also, it is not as dark as most screw-on polarizer's so you do need to compensate as much with the ISO or shutter speeds. Really nice to have and use while walking around and shooting.
