Photoflex Nylon Fabric Grid for Medium (24 x 32") Softbox
This is a Photoflex Nylon Fabric Grid for the Medium (24 x 32") Softbox. This grid limits the light spread from your softbox to 40°. It fastens to the recessed front of the softbox via touch fasteners.
Grids are essential accessories for any lighting system. A grid alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox when it is mounted on a light head. Consider a grid as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel.

4 stars for functionality, three stars overall because the cost is ridiculous for fabric strips sewn together in some foreign factory.

Easy to Velcro on. Works well with the softbox in a vertical position, tends to hang down when using overhead but that's the nature of what it is since it isn't rigid. Comes with a small nylon storage pouch. Remove from the softbox, roll it up and put it in the pouch for storage. Pretty simple.

These do a nice job of directing the broad throw of a soft-box. However, they also reduce the output / intensity and make your shadows more harsh. They offer a middle ground for those who are overly-picky about lighting. I think they are extremely over priced and unneeded.

I use this Fabric Grid with a CineDome Softbox for interviews. It turns the Softbox into a harder, more directional key. It's also a big help in controlling spill to the background.
It's easy to transport, and setup. This is critical when you need a compact, portable kit.

I think every softbox should come with this fabric grid. I use my Photoflex softbox on a Lowel Tota mostly for interviews, and it limits the spill so the light focuses on the subject and not on the background.
