Foba Pedestal de Câmera Asaba de 10 pés (3,1m)
Shown with Optional Equipment

A favorite of both still & digital professional photographers, the Foba ASABA Camera Stand towers to 10' and it holds even the ultra-large format cameras with ease. The large triangular base is locked from motion with just a single pedal, and 24 roller bearings provide smooth, light adjustments. Accessory options include a rotation base, camera tilt head, geared head, angle bracket and accessory tray.

O design de coluna hexagonal elimina as vibrações irritantes associadas com colunas quadradas e redondas.
Altura Máxima 10 pés (3,1m)
Peso ~300 libras (136,4kg)

Comments about Foba Asaba Camera Stand (10.0' / 3.1 m):

I have use this in a studio setting for about 6 years.

The one I bought had no legs (just the upright and cross-arm head) so I made legs out of Oregon maple (I am a fine woodworker). I used large diameter casters so it would glide over carpet.

I love the smooth action of this equipment - especially the horizontal arm (it's like having a camera on ice!)

But... the vertical movement is less-than-optimum. I added lead weights to it, and felt buffers to the weight inside the column to silence it (it rattled horribly when the stand was moved). The felt also added a bit of air-damping to the movement since it sealed the inside of the column to the weight.

BTW: the 'squeak' that the moving head makes as I clamp down the stop is really fun! Kids love the sound (and so do I!)

I also added a laptop stand that mounts to a 2" diameter black anodized tube bolted to risers on the side of the upright. This allows the laptop to stay at a fixed height from the floor no matter where the camera is. And, the varying weight of having/not-having the laptop mounted doesn't affect the up-down counter-wieghting.

I would suggest buying the offset camera mount to allow a lower camera position. The cross-arm only allows my camera (Nikon D700 on a Bogen head) to go to about 20" above the floor at it's lowest position, Which is not low enough for photographing children. I need to build an off- set that works the way I want it to to fix this problem (I am a mechanical engineer as well).

I must say that the stand adds superb stability and solidity to my camera as well as an air of 'complete professionalism' to my studio.

There is a 'sudden drop arrestor' seat-belt thingy attached to the vertically traveling part. This supposedly prevents a complete crash of your camera if you let the head drop. I don;t know if this really works, as I have yet to drop it. :-)

I wish there were an effective way to change the counter-weight amount to balance varying camera/accessory weights. I often mount lights on the traveling part to keep camera-to0light distance consistent and the lack of this adjustibility is a nuisance.

Overall, the Foba is the gold standard of camera stands, though it could still use some better design (Mr. Gripe-and-Suggest-Alterations here!). I recommend it highly, though not unresevedly.
