Comments about EF Adapter XL for Canon XL-2 and XL-1 DV Camcorders to mount EOS Photo Lenses:

When I bought my XL, I found the EF adapter as an accessories with an advantage of using EF photo lenses, so as I decided to buy the adapter and one 50mm f/1.4 ef lens from B&H for the test, It works fine, planning to buy more EF Lenses as I can use them once I buy EOS camera, Now its my decisions where to use it, it works perfect with EF lenses. Do you have XL, then by one from B&H 101% support.

I really like this adapter. We only returned this adapter because of our mistake. It is hard to make a decision sometimes without trying the product. This adapter does as says but keep in mind the lenses that Canon says will work. We own the XLh1a and we do love the movie camera and its features. After some research from Canon's website I found this list of lenses they will work. However all that had manual focus seem to work well in standard video. We would got error message in HD mode about the lens not being compatible in HD but it still seem to work recording wise. I did not get time to do a full test so take that in consideration. We tried the following lenses EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM and the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM. Both provided a clear crisp video quality which you expect out of the L-Series Lenses.I wished we could have keep this product and will probably buy it later in the future as I see it's 7x potential.[...]

I use this EF Adapter on my Canon XL2 with Canon EF lenses. It boosts the focal length of any Canon EF lens by 7.2x which is perfect for wildlife videography. If this adapter is used with a Canon EF lens that has an IS (image stabilizer) the IS will still work but, AF (auto focus) will not work.

I bought this adapter after buying the 3 Wide for my XL2 and I am on the fence with this item because with all my wide angle lenses I didn't see any change in the view. However on my 70-200mm 2.8L I saw a huge diffence in focal view. I can say that this is a great alternative for a quick back up or #2 angle. Also the auto focus don't work.
