Velbon QB-5W Quick Release Plate - Wide
The Velbon QB-5W Quick Release Plate fits the CX-560, 660, 684 and DF-60 tripods, and features a wide rubberized surface with a 1/4"-20 camera screw and video pin.
A quick release plate can be kept attached to the camera's base and allows the user to quickly and easily attach or remove the camera from the tripod without having to waste time fumbling with the threaded mount.

Just attach one of these little gadgets to the bottom of your cameras and they're always ready to quickly mount onto your tripod. I would have one for each camera, or highpower binoculars that are able to use a tripod. Just make sure they're always tight. I lost one this winter as I was out taking pictures in the snow....this time I ordered 2.....one for a backup. AS far as I know they're only useful with Velbon tripods.

I am a naturalist and use the tripod for a spotting scope and cameras. I used to change from a wide angle lens to telephoto and that was a hassle in the field.
With two cameras I eliminated the lens changing but still had to move the quick release from one camera to the other. With the second quick release platform changing from the wide angle to telephoto is a breeze!

You attach this plate to the base of your camera & then attach it to your tripod.
Attaches easily with, a coin, a key or small flat head screw driver.
It fastens, sturdily to the camera & tripod & is easy to get on & off, yet stable & sturdy.
I have no complaints.
