The Hoya 77mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.
Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Not much to say- I've had excellent results with the Hoya Multi-Coated in the past so I ponied up for this nice light cutter. No disappointment. Could you get by with a cheaper model? Sure. Throw it on your kit lens and fire away- your pictures will probably look the same as mine. But since I'm using pro lenses I guess I'm just a sucker for pro filters!
I saw no color casts or uneven tones with this unit when trying to blur some water.

I have been using HOYA filters for 2 decades and familiar with them. This one I just purchased is well made too and doesn't use clip-on spring anymore, but the rear glass surface is mono-coated while the front is HMC. I have compared with my other HOYA filters before drawing this conclusion. [...] Also, it has slight warm cast, not serious but noticeable.

I originally picked up a Zykkor ND8 filter and every picture came out fuzzy and color was off. The Hoya works perfectly & doesn't degrade the image in any way that I can tell.

Hoya makes good, solidt filters. Period. BUT it can get confusing, so you have to know what you are getting. This filter is a good one for video (especially in super sunny places, like Colorado).

Great for slowing down flowing water. I take a lot of waterfall and rapids shots and this filter really does the trick in allowin me to use slower shutter speeds.

I use this product to get longer exposure. Nice waterfalls effects, even in the strong light of south Carolina. Or even by night! Excellent filter, plano parallel, uniform tint, good fit on my Nikon 80-200. I find the price matching the perf.

When you're willing to get out the tripod and fiddle around with filters, a neutral density filter is well worth the trouble. I use it to achieve very slow shutter speeds when photographing scenes with water. This particular one is of excellent quality.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter:
I purchased this filter primarily for landscapes. I found that without a graduated filter, obtaining the correct exposure between sky and foreground is next to impossible, unless you bracket different exposure shots and then combine them in photoshop. Other than that, works great for daylight portraits and slowing down shutter for water motin.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter:
I use it for Commercials and Independent films.
I did not want to spend too much money on Matte Box, so i purchased the Filters and Hood, and it works great.
Matte Box could be very expensive and these Filters are easier to take out and put on.
I recommend them!

Great filter for my 10-22mm EFS, when trying to get long, wide exposures. 8X density allows me to increase exposure times to blur moving details, etc
