Comments about Domke J-Series End Pocket Insert:
I'm using this to keep my rangefinder-sized camera in a regular canvas satchel. I like to go 'stealth' and dislike bags that scream "I've got a camera." However, the small, canvas shoulder-bag I use doesn't offer much in the way of padding. Enter the J-Series end pocket insert. It slips easily inside, doesn't make the bag bulky, and offers just a bit of extra protection from occasional knocks. While it certainly won't protect you camera entirely of course, it's a still a useful thing to have. It folds up flat too, but that's where it loses a star for me. While that's handy and makes it portable, and although the velco is strong and secure, it's still not as strong or secure as a fully molded insert. Still, a good purchase for sure -- just be aware of what you're getting if you plan to use it something other than a Domke bag!

Comments about Domke J-Series End Pocket Insert:
Went on a trip to Alaska, where, given the activities a regular camera bag doesn't work too well. Wanted something I could add to a lumbar pack to protect my Lumix FZ35, with easy access. I'm also going on a trip to photograph slot canyons in Arizona, where spaces are tight. Fits perfectly in my LL Bean lumbar pack. The fact that it folds flat for travel is just an added bonus.

Comments about Domke J-Series End Pocket Insert:
I purchased this to carry my Olympus E-PL1 in a canvas messenger bag so I can't speak to its use in the Domke bags for which it was intended, but for my purposes it works a treat. I'm able to fit my E-PL1, VF-2 viewfinder (in its case),the M.Zuiko 14-42mm kit lens and a legacy 50mm prime w/adapter (the camera fits lens down, DSLR holster-style with either lens attached). I suppose the insert is a bit expensive for what it really is (some padding covered in nylon with some Velcro), bit it seems well made and serves its purpose.

Comments about Domke J-Series End Pocket Insert:
I don't have a J-series bag, but this insert is great. Easily can fit an SLR body (with a prime attached, such as D90 with 35mm f2, N80 with 50mm 1.4, etc). Can also hold a decent size lens (with room to spare), or a two flashes (SB-600+SB-800, etc) or a lot of other stuff. Use it to divide a larger compartment of a bag and keep stuff from bumping into each other.
It's worth noting that this insert is tapered at the top, so expands at the bottom. it is padded on all sides (includes bottom). It also opens up to fold flat (nice feature for traveling). Padding is not removable like most other Domke inserts (no big deal).
Use this to add padding in any bag you own (not just photo bags). Since it folds flat, it's great for travel as you install it once at location or break it down once at location (depends on your use).
Well made, perfect amount of padding (not too much or too bulky), flexible.
