I use this to transport a small 50mm fixed lens in my camera bag--it does the job. When I change out my zoom for the fixed lens, the case almost (not quite) covers my zoom, so it's nice to know that my bigger lens is somewhat protected while I'm shooting with the 50mm. Four stars because it is almost too big for the recommended lenses--rolling around in there can't be good.

I bought this for a 50mm f/1.8. It is too big, this is the reason I checked "I would not reccomended it to a friend" adding "if he wants to buy it for the 50mm f/1.8 Canon lens."
When I opened the box it seemed a little too big right away. I thought it was the wrong item but the mdel was marked on both the pouch and the box. It is too big for the 50mm. I used it for a 28-105 and it is still big. It is 13cm tall and about 10cm in diameter (about 5" tall and 4" diameter) - I guess these are exterior dimensions, measured with the top open and standing straight. In short, for the 50mm lens, this looks more like a bag than a "dedicated pooch." Canon offers smaller pooches, they should reccomend a smaller one for the 50mm.

Even though I knew ahead that the cost of materials was probably no more than US$2 for this case, I bit the bullet in making the purchase decision. Looking back, I do not regret as it fits the Canon 50MM f/1.4 lens very tightly. High cost is the real inhibitive factor for many others especially if they only spent $109 for a 50MM f/1.8 lens and this case is [$]. Maybe it is worthwhile only for a more expensive 50MM lens.

I got one of these cases when I bought an L lens and purchased this one for another regular EF-S lens that didn't come with a case. I really like how it protects my L lens and so I thought it would make a nice addition to my other lenses to help protect them as well. The good thing is that each case can fit a multitude of lenses so they are re-usable!

I think a bag like this is a ncessity when storing multiple lenses in close proximity. I bought a few different versions of this bag for all my lenses and an upcoming trip to the Grand Canyon. While the bags do seem a bit overpriced they are made very well and look fantastic. Overall I would definitely buy this again.
