I teach a photography course where students learn to develop film and prints. I think this is a great tool to use, however as I have ordered these over the years, I notice that the quality varies. If I compare all the calculators I have, not one is exactly alike! If this is supposed to be "calibrated" then each one should match. I have one that gives a very obvious incorrect reading so based on using this particular calculator, the student's final exposure is wrong.
It is a good product for the most part, but consistency should be maintained.

Had one of these, or one much like it, years ago. The amateur's perfect tool for ballpark calculations within the amateur's price range (i.e. next to nothing).

I am working with a student "JAC", in photography 101. Working with manual cameras, B&W, processing film and prints. He has little understanding of time. His use of the projection calculator has eliminated the need to log exposure times, it is obvious from the test strip the correct exposure time, and his selection for the best print .
