This kit contains: (1) Cokin P series holder, (1) 100pg. instruction manual, (1) Cokin P series 72mm adapter ring, (1) Star 4 filter (P057), (1) Diffuser 2 filter (P084), Graduated Gray 1 filter (P120).

This filter measures 85 x 85mm and fits the Cokin P series holder.

Star 4 Filter

  • Star filters create multiple points of light, or "stars," streaking outward from a central light source. This can make lighting within the scene take on a more glittering, glamorous appearance. This effect is produced by a series of thin lines etched into the flat optical surface of a clear filter. The size and brightness of the star lines produced are first a function of the size, shape, and brightness of the light source. Lines in one direction produce a two-pointed star, just a streak through the center of the light. Cokin offers 4,8, and 16 point star effects. With an 16 point filter, the many star lines may tend to overpower the rest of the image, so use it carefully. Generally, mid-range apertures or larger are sufficient to achieve a good star effect. Always test before critical situations. This filter is specific to Cokin's "P" Series filter holder and rotates within the holder.

    Diffuser 2 Filter

  • Cokin Diffusers have very little effect on the sharpness of the image. They merely diffuse highlights thus reducing contrast. As such, diffusers can be used to soften a landscape, or soften skin texture in a portrait to hide minor flaws. Cokin Diffusers are available in three grades, #1 (#083), #2 (#084), and #3 (#085) with #3 having the greatest effect.

    Graduated Grey G1 Filter

  • Cokin color graduated filters are color-toned in one half of the filter and have a smoothly graduated transition into the clear portion. Colored and clear image portions can be brought into the desired position by adjusting the filter in the holder. Most Cokin graduated filters are available in two densities 1 & 2, with #2 being darker. Cokin color graduated filters can also be combined with other Cokin filters. Two color graduated filters rotated 180 degrees to each other allow a composition of colors to fade into each other.

        Purchasing a 72mm lens I had to start over with my filter system. Going with Cokin and the set they provide is a no brainer. Good fit and quality and the P series filter is able to go to 84mm in case I go with a larger lens. I've always used Cokin filters and always will. Many other filters to choose from within the Cokin family for any photo situation you're in.
