It is beatifull! Working as sport photographer before I had 4 bags for different task and set of lenses.
Now my F-1X close all problem, not looks like photo-bag and protect all equipment. 300/2.8 lens it is possible to put inside!

I wouldn't use any thing else.
They are the very best camera bags by a wide margin and they are very durable.

I absolutely was pleased with my purchase. This item was as big as I needed it to be, durable material, hefty for traveling. The latch is a bit hard to open the bag but it's great that it's dependable and won't open on it's own. Absolutely love it!

I was looking for a bag that could hold my camera fully set up without any breakdown. I shoot mainly with 5D MarkII, zoom h4n on top, 70-200mm f2.8 and the letus optical viewfinder. I can put the whole setup in this bag, as is. It also has an, un-padded, pocket in the back that holds my macbook pro 13"
One big benefit for me is, to the untrained eye, it doesn't look like it holds 10k in gear. This is a big plus when I put my passport to use.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):
...that's how long my "first" Domke F-1X lasted! Finally wore holes in the bottom and sides from years of pretty hard use! I'm an accident investigator and this bag serves as a camera bag/brief case/gear bag! Its seen it's share of dirt, gravel, asphalt, scorching summer heat, freezing winter cold and everything in between...and never failed to protect and guard my cameras, digital recorders and other essential tools.
Plenty of room, durable, well organized and very customizable! Did I say it was tough as nails?
Only thing I would change is to actually make it a little bit bigger...but then again I don't mind looking like a "pack mule" when I carry it around!

...should be called a little too big! Fully loaded this thing weighs a ton! Not for carrying around while you're shooting. Great for keeping ALL of your gear in one place. I'm gonna need to get a smaller bag to carry while shooting.

I have one, used it for 10+ years. As tough and durable as they come. With today's larger diameter AF lenses, it's getting tough to load some of the lenses into the standard 4-part insert.
After 10+ years, the rubber in the gripper strap is going, but it can be replaced-yeah!-great feature, just purchase a strap, not a new bag. And by the way, the rubber in the strap really does limit slipping.
As another poster said, the black shows a lot of dirt. I too would get the sand/tan/olive if I were purchasing a new one today.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):
I owned the original Domke bag for over 20 years and it is still in good shape. As my digital equipment became larger I needed more room and knew the only other bag I would purchase would be another Domke.
This bag lives up to it's name.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):
I've got this black F1-X bag around 1982. Other than some fading from washing it, it's still in excellent shape. It's tight, it's well made, very durable. It's very high quality.
It will hold a *ton* of stuff. When I was shooting film, I carried three bodies, three or four lenses, a flash, and a load of filters and other accessories. Now that I'm shooting digital, I've had to back off because the accumulated weight is just too much.
My only problem with this bag is that it's too easy to overload it. In my 20s I didn't mind being a pack mule, and my old film gear doesn't weight as much as digital and AF. Now I find that even with a light load, I don't like lugging the bag around too much. It's fantastic if you want to bring a lot of equipment and you don't have to move around. For hiking, travel, or general walking around--it's just too much.
If I had to do it over again, I'd get a different color. Black shows the dirt and this bag always looks dirty. I've washed it a couple times but the color fades. I'd probably buy the khaki version.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):
Strong and durable bag. The shoulder strap is adjustable and very strong to support heavy weight. The cardboard bottom is very strong as well, minimizing possible damage to equipment if dropped. A very simply structured bag with pockets clearly visible and easy to find. I like efficient, strong things with no complications and this bag is just perfect.
The only slight possible complaint is that the sides of the bag are not extremely padded, but then again, there is no bag on the market that adds extra padding to the sides. The inserts are excellent for protecting lenses, but if you are very careful with your equipment like I am, you may want to buy some padded pouches just in case your bag gets hit from the side. This is a minor complaint and there are many padded pouches for camera bodies, etc., that will solve this problem...
But this bag does protect equipment well from rain etc...
Great texture to the bag...
