I've had this bag for 16(!) years, and it's still my main bag. It's a perfect bag if you need to have a lot of equipment with you and all at hand. Now I have two bodies with grips, 5 lenses, 2 flashes, loads of batteries (8 times 4AA's), hoods, transmitters, filters, pouch with CF cards ... and I can fit some more stuff.
Even with this setup, it's comfy enough to carry it around. It moulds to your body so it doesn't bounce a lot like rigid bags. I highly reccomend a postal shoulder pad, it is much more comfortable and secure. For lugging around a lot of gear better would be a backpack, but you cannot shoot from a backpack!
I use it a lot at the weddings, I push it and slide it across the flor, and this bag takes it all! I even had a half a bottle of wine spilled over it (closed, though!) and nothing came through.
My only gripe is those metal hooks: be careful when opening your bag fast, they might kick against some glass! And yes, side pockets should have bigger flaps.
If you need a big bag to work from - this is it, it will swallow all your gear and some candy too.

There is so much room in this bag! It carries almost everything thatI need to go on a photoshoot! It is compfortable to carry. If I had to come up with a negative about this bag is that the clips can be a little difficult to unclip.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I use this for both my Hasselblad 503 plus three lenses (and accesories) and my 35mm kit/DSLR. It is large enough to allow me to carry everything I need for a day of shooting with space to spare- but the size is still manageable. There is a bit less padding than in other shoulder bags- but it seems adequate for my purposes. The only thing that I don't like is that the insert doesn't keep its shape so well- so sometimes reinserting items on the fly is a bit of a hassle.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):
This bag is awesome. You definitely can get more in the bag than what it appears to have space for. I packed a D3 w/17-35 f/2.8 lens attached on one end of the bag (Monitor side down on a lens cloth). In the adjustable insert in the middle of the bag, I packed a 24-70 f/2.8, 24 f/1.4 with room for one small prime lens. On the opposite end of the D3 I placed a SB900 flash in its orignial pouch plus the lens hood for the 24-70 lens. Sunglasses in the side pocket. In the back zippered pouch I had 3 magazines, various cords/batteries etc. I still had room for other items. You have to be careful as it will be easy to load up the bag, just because you have the space. When you do that, the bag does become very heavy over long periods.
The hooks require a little effort to open, but I like that as it keeps the bag secure in crowded environments.
Very well made with durable canvas material that forms to the body. If you're looking for a bag to shoot from that carries what you need, then this is the bag.

This bag is great for short trip and day shoots. It will hold 2 camera bodies and 3+ lens plus just about all the ancillary equipment you would need.

Good neutral colour great when shooting in sunny climes. This bag is rugged and well made in the USA. This has been my main bag for 8 years. I'm older and wiser now, so I've stopped lugging gear on my shoulders. I pull this bag and everything else on a portable dolly. A word of advise to the young bucks, save strain on your back and knees NOW, you are going to need them later.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):
The quality of the Domke bags is legendary and this bag is no exception. I have a tiny nittpick regarding the attachments points for the handle - single square stitches where having the straps go around the bag like as it does for the shoulder strap, but I don't see that as a big deal.
Keep in mind, this bag has no padding! That makes it extremely roomy. It easily fits everything that I can possibly stack into my Lowepro backpack, and with "easily" I mean easily accessible without cumbersome stacking.
The insert provides good side protection for lenses and such, and the bottom board is very reassuring as well, but don't expect this bag to absorb a fall from, let's say, a table. But that's the price you pay for having a lot more room *inside* the bag. The lack of padding makes the bag also a bit more flexible so it folds easily around the hip.
The 'lid' of the bag contains one big storage pouch, and three smaller webbed pouches on top of that. That is great since you don't have small stuff floating all over the place as is the case with other "single pouch" (you know who you are, mate!) bags.
My biggest complaint is the price: if a another Major Bag brand would make a similar bag I would guess it would probably cost 30% less. But this bag will easily last 10 to 20 years, so it's not that much of a deal.

Why did it take me so long to believe my brother and buy a Domke bag? I love this bag- the way it balances against my hip, the sturdiness of the fabric, straps and clips, the inner foam camera lens holder. It even looks cool. I can fit/strap on all my wedding photo shoot equipment and that makes me happy. Read the reviews- they're not lying. Buy the Postal carrier foam strap otherwise it will hurt after awhile. The metal clips on the front are a bit awkward and slightly hard to use, which is good if you want to keep young kids out.

Third Domke bag. I finally had enough gear to merit a fit everything bag. Now I am able to cary all my gear with me when the occasion calls for it during travel. I have 2x 2.8 zooms, 5x primes, lensbaby set, 1 DSLR, 1 Film SLR, light meter, flash, micro tool kit, leatherman, filters, 7 CF cards, writing pad, extra batteries with chargers, and a little room to spare for hand santizer and film rolls.
The bag is a champ, but it's just a tad to big to shoot out of.

Comments about Domke F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):
This bag is everything I expected it to be, and more. It is more, in that it is bigger than I expected, and that's a good thing. I wanted a big bag. That is what I got.
After numerous other bags, I eventually got myself a Domke F-3X to hold "just enough gear for a specific shoot/outing" - and it rapidly became my main bag... even when it wasn't really able to hold everything I wanted it to hold without risking my lenses/body.
I eventually realized that I needed to get a bigger Domke. After much deliberation and comparing size:weight ratios of my other bags as compared to the F-3X, I decided that it really didn't matter if I got the F-2 or the F-1X.
The F-1X has plenty of room - but is light enough that if you don't pack it full to the brim, it doesn't really matter. The standard insert is great for carrying a few moderate lenses, and the bag easily fits a 70-200 lens.
Don't get this bag if you expect tons of padding, though... however I've found that these canvas bags are just as good as the heavier well-padded bags from other manufacturers unless you're really rough with your gear.

I got this to replaced bulky backpack, that wouldn't fit as carry-on on plane. This is perfect fit. I would have a very hard time trying to fit 9 lenses in it however, unless you trust to put them in the outside pockets, but even then could only fit smaller primes. Quick access to lenses is great, but be careful when opening as the metal buckles can fly dangerously close to your glass (something to always be aware of). Would like more flexibility in changing size of padded compartments, these can be bought separately but for a hefty price. Overall love it though. Also, fits under seat of even small commuter planes which is perfect!! Great construction.
