The Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black) can be used as a camera bag, or remove the Gripper shoulder strap and thread it through the belt loop for an instant waist/hip pack. I bought the bag because I needed a small, lightweight, comfortable bag for short excursions. It allows me to take my camera almost anywhere with me without a bulky camera bag. I easily carry my Canon 40D with a Tamron 18-250 lens attached with the hood in place. With the velcroed separator, I can place the external flash at one end if needed. I carry a couple extra camera batteries and flash batteries and a flash card or two in the side pockets. The easy-access flap allows quick access to the camera. I wanted a way to carry a full size SLR without having a bulky bag. The bag is rugged and padded just enough so you can put it in an airplane overhead, or under the seat. I still carry a larger bag when needed, but this little bag is just right for day-to-day use. If this one ever wheres out I will definitely buy another.

I bought this for my new Fuji X100 and associated gear. It is perfectly sized, and fits the camera in the Fuji case, lens hood, charger, extra battery, extra cards, manual, with a little room to spare. The bag zips closed to seal it from either the elements, or in case of a spill (stuff doesn't fall out), and velcro closure. Highly recommend for this camera.

Comments about Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black):
The bag is untreated, (no wax or other finish applied), heavyweight black cotton and is well put together and has a quality durable feel to it. All the padding is thinner than typical camera bags, it is probably just adequate to avoid damage due to minor collisions. The inner compartment has padding to the front and back but not left or right. I moved the 2 included padded velcrod inserts to left and right to get some padding either end. The base is stiffened and lightly padded, the top zippered opening underneath the velcrod flap isn't padded. The bag is just right for an slr with a small zoom attached and one spare lens; I needed to acquire another padded insert to seperate these 2 items. The strap is a good one and is adjustable with swivels on either end clip at the point of attachment. The strap has a rubberized inner surface which is a good non slip feature. The best aspects of the bag are its light weight, small size and small satchel shape; it is not overly conspicuous as a camera bag.

This is useful for photojournalists when going super-light on assignment. Also works well as a second bag to hold a couple speedlights/transmitters or audio gear.

Comments about Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black):
For me, this bag was too small.. It is a good bag with good sections and layouts. I have a 7D and unfortunately, it is just a bit small. I am returning the bag. I was hoping it can fit a lens on the camera, and a additional lens on the side. It technically can... but it is very very tight once you do that. Since the bag has a zipper on top, getting a camera like 7D in and out is quite cumbersome, the zipper keeps getting in the way a bit and I don't like the zipper constantly scratching the body / lens as you take it in and out.
It is a small bag and the padding is not super thick either. This bag will work better for smaller cameras / smaller dslrs. Just want people to know that as most reviews aren't very clear about the size of this bag. Other than that, I like the bag a lot, very discreet design and look, sturdy, good quality. The other gripe is it is a bit pricey for what you get.. I got a Case Logic 206 backpack for the same price.
If you don't have a lot or have smaller camera / dslr, and you want a more discreet, casual looking bag for your camera, this can be a great choice. If you have a slightly bigger camera, just let you know, it probably won't fit into it that well.

I love this bag for carrying extra things at events, where I might not be able to quickly run back to my main bag for extra batteries, a different lens, etc. I use this to carry a long lens, extra cards, backup batteries and the like at events, which it is perfect for. The only MAJOR drawback for this use is that the bag closes with a BIG strip of velcro, which is very secure, but noisy to open during remarks or a toast. This bag would be perfect with clips like the other domke bags.

I bought this bag for a Sony NEX. In addition to the 16mm pancake lens, I also have a Oly Pen-F 20mm lens, Contax 35mm lens, & Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lens. All non-Sony lenses also have adaptors attached.
I learned about this bag from a friend who uses it with a Leica M9 + lenses.

It's a great bag for protecting your camera .. but kinda tight.
I will used this to store my Canon T2I camera with Lens at
home, but for street use, I picked up a Lowe Bag, A little bigger,
less padding .... at 1/2 the price ... so I can whip my camera
out when I need it.
Home Use .... You could probably kick this bag if you
were storing your camera in it and it would be safe ...

Comments about Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black):
The Domke F-5XB is a nice, compact day bag. It can hold an ungripped DSLR with a mid-sized zoom and an extra lens or flash (plus accessories). The fit is tight, but I can carry my T1i with a 24-105L for a days worth of shooting and have the 50 f/1.4 handy for low light. If you want to carry anything more than that, you need to find a bigger bag.
The build quality and materials are fantastic. Soft canvas, metal clips, gripper strap, and huge/smooth YKK zippers. The padding is sufficient throughout. The Domke F-5XB is fantastic!
If you are worried about this compact bag being girly, hit the gym and become more macho.

Comments about Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black):
The bag arrived with a chemical finish that you could feel on your fingers and smell that had to be washed out being using it. For the price, the design was disappointing. The bottom of the bag is a covered hard plastic plate that digs into you. Although compact, there is no protection for the camera on the sides. Domke's reputation far exceeds the value of this item.

Needed a bag that can hold a Nikon D40 body with 70-300 lens. This one worked perfectly. There is no space for anything else, but that is exactly how I wanted. The camera sits sideways and I can get to it pretty easily after openning the flap.
I like Crumpler bags better for the design and looks, but they don't make a bag in like this.

I use this bag for my Nikon D3000. I was not interested in the typical camera bag and this bag is perfect. It fits the camera with a lens attached and there is also room for an additional lense. Love, Love, Love this bag!!!

Comments about Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Black):
I bought this expressly for a small, functional bag that didn't peg me as a target for thieves. I am very impressed.
The canvas is extremely tough, and the bag gives me a good sense of security with my camera. I love the strap, as it holds well on my shoulder. Once I clipped off the bright red tag, I felt pretty confident it didn't look too much like a camera bag.
It fits my XSi, standard lens, and some other accessories like a champ. I love this bag.
