Comments about Amphoto Book: Mastering Flash Photography:
To my knowledge, few people truly master Flash photography. I thought I could make a gift of this book, avoid me hours of "teaching", unfortunately, I am not happy with this purchase at all. After glancing at a few chapters, and looking closer, I find the information presented to be as follows:
Poor Examples
Bad Samples
Little or no visualization
Outdated equivalents
Overall, I will need to "keep shopping" for better written litterature on Flash Photography

I should have read the reviews about this book. It only talks about 35mm film cameras. It was published in 1999... I returned it.

I expected to learn flash techniques. I was disappointed, and felt mislead by the word "mastering" in the title. I think this book aims to give the reader a decent introduction to what is possible by flash photography.

Has good background information about the subject, however copyrighted 1997, thus not up to speed with advances in digital photography.
