Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I researched camera bags for quite some time before deciding on the Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel. I wanted a discreet, durable shoulder bag that I could use for a variety of purposes. As a teacher I wanted something that would fit my 15" Macbook Pro, various files, and textbooks. As a photographer I wanted something that would protect and carry my equipment, without being intrusively bulky or obvious.
The Reporter's Satchel nicely fits all of my camera equipment. I currently have a Canon 60D body, a kit 18-135mm lens, a 70-200 f2.8L lens, and a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. The bag is made from durable canvas which lies nicely against your body, however it is not highly padded (as some camera bags are). I personally like this as I wanted something that wasn't too bulky. I have purchased a Tenba insert for more padding if needed, which fits perfectly.
I highly recommend this satchel. It is convenient, comfortable, durable, and stylish.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
Just bought this satchel to replace a blue version that I have carried for nearly 20 years. It was the top of the strap that began to look a little worn on my old one, so I replaced it for school and work. I will still use the old satchel for off-the-beaten-path adventures.
I use it mostly to carry a laptop and papers, but I have used it with a padded insert to carry a Nikon D-series and long lens.
I thought that because it was canvas, there would be leaking issues. So far there have never been any. I purchased the sand colored satchel because it will not show fading like my old blue one. All in all a great buy!

This is a very well built bag and met my expectations, the only issue would be the inside pockets provide no protection so the additional liners would be a wise investment. I just ordered some from BH Photo and are waiting for them to arrive. As a part time professional photographer I feel this will make a nice additional to carrying my gear.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
This is my favorite travel bag for camera and laptop. On the plane I can put in a 15" Mac Book, two 5d bodies in the outside pockets and 3 lenses ( 70 -200 mm f4, 24 - 70 f2.8 and 17 - 40 f4. It's a little heavy but everything fits. Once at my destination I usually leave the laptop and just take one body and the 17 - 40 and the 70 - 200. Very inconspicuous, light and lots of room for umbrella, papers and a trash bag to cover it if it rains. It's surprisingly comfortable to carry too.
If you like the bag you probably will have to replace (B&H has replacements) the main strap a few times.
At home I use the bag just for my laptop and a rolling case for my camera equipment.
Great bag, well made, not too expensive and unobtrusive!
Also I don't mind the minimum padding in the bag Cameras are pretty strong to begin with. Years ago in Vietnam I used an unpadded corpsman's bag for my camera gear and never had any problems with gear breakage. And the advantage of having a lighter weight bag that hugs your body and doesn't stick out with a lot of padding is actually much more comfortable and you are less likely to bang it around. Also you can add bits of padding as needed in critical areas.

I use this to carry Nikon N-90 attached to a regular lens, three additional lenses and SB-600, with one pocket left over for extra batteries, cards, cables etc. You will need some lining for which I recommend buying a sheet of half inch foam to stuff the front and back pockets (instead of buying the inserts which are way too expensive and without optimum utility.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I use this bag with my Nikon D90, 18-55mm lens, 70-200 lens and a 50mm prime and there is plenty of room left over. I usually leave one of the lenses attached to the camera and then set a lens on either side or stack the remaining lenses. I will soon be adding a new dedicated flash to my gear and there is more than enough room for it. The bag also has two roomy front pockets and then on the flap the two zippered pockets are great for things like a remote shutter release, filters etc.
I had considered several different camera bags and am very glad I went with this one, it doesn't look like a normal camera bag and certainly isn't as bulky. The bag is rugged and feels as though it will last me many years.
The only draw-back is that I thought it came with a padded divider but it does not so I will probably invest in one for the added stability.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I use this every day to and from work - my camera is handy, yet protected and away from prying eyes. There is enough room for the miscellaneous paper work and books I carry, the camera with lens (either the 24 - 105L or the 100 - 400L), extra filters cards and batteris and my lunch. I do wish it were a bit wider as the laptop would be a tight fit.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
This satchel is a beautiful product. It has plenty of space for all of my work papers as well as chargers, keys and ear phones. The stitching is first rate with no loose threads emerging from anywhere. It is not heavy but it feels very tough. The only negative comment I can make is about the length of the strap. I have it extended all of the way and it fits me perfectly but it might not fit others who are taller. When a product is this good the manufacturer needs to tastefully place their logo for all of the world to see. Domke surprisingly covered up theirs under the flap.

Comments about Domke F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I've had a Domke camera for over 25 years and, other than fading from washing it, it's still in excellent shape. I wanted a laptop satchel, so I thought I'd give this a try.
The material appears to be the same durable, heavy stuff from my camera bag. It's very tight and solid. The laptop (15 inches across) fits beautifully into the main compartment. There's a slim, lengthwise sleeve that goes across the back that would hold a magazine or some papers. There are two large pouches on the front (the flaps close with velcro), and there are also two zippers on the main flap so you can put a few small things in there, too. Amazing.
The spring clasps and rings are metal, but the adjustment pieces on the shoulder strap are plastic. I don't know how durable they'll be in the long run, but they look fine.
In addition to the strap, there's a fabric handle on top so you can carry it in your hand.
Overall I think it's well made, well designed, and I'm very happy with it.

This satchel now houses my laptop, and occasionally a D2h with a 50mm lens. Of course it has held up specatcularly, in the 122 degree heat in Baghdad Iraq, where I currently lug all my equipment around. Excellent purchase, and I highly recommend to those who need a great satchel, for use carrying all types of gear.
