Comments about Domke FA-216 1-Compartment Short Insert for F-6 Little Bit Smaller Shoulder Bag:
All the padding with these bags seems minimal, but also seems to do the job, totaly enclose so you can lift it out as a unit, but like others have mentioned for some reason they leave the padding pockets open at the bottom, I don't know why you need the option to remove padding.
The best thing about this insurt is that it perfectly fits the empty space that is normaly unpadded.
This insurt can be small for most DSLR body and lens combos, but I have an Olympus E420, and it it perfect, so some of the compact DSLRs will fit with a lens on them.

Comments about Domke FA-216 1-Compartment Short Insert for F-6 Little Bit Smaller Shoulder Bag:
I use this insert to protect my DSLR, with a short lens attached, in a messenger style bag.
It fits the camera snugly, and provides padding from whatever else is bouncing around in my bag.
The sides are pockets with a foam panel for padding. However, the bottom of the pocket is open, meaning the foam panel could slide out if the insert was not secured in the bag.
This product is good enough for my usage, but not perfect for everyone.
If you are going to have a tightly packed bag, this may be good enough. It is not perfect. If you have a loosely packed bag with hard items knocking against it, it may fail you. If you have any larger lens attached it may be too small.
It fits my Cannon T2i with kit lens perfectly.

I expected more for the price. The inserts had loose stitching and there is no padding on the bottom.

Comments about Domke FA-216 1-Compartment Short Insert for F-6 Little Bit Smaller Shoulder Bag:
Quality wise, there is nothing wrong with this insert. Great construction, good padding with strong seams and durable fabric. Size wise, this insert will NOT fit a standard camera body with the lens attached. Even with the lens facing down. The inside diameter is just too small. As far as a body without the lens and inserted upright, it will fit but it will be tight. Bottom line, if you have a full size body, Get the next size up insert.

Comments about Domke FA-216 1-Compartment Short Insert for F-6 Little Bit Smaller Shoulder Bag:
Only thing I would like to change is that the bottom of this insert is not sewn up, so the foam can be pushed out the bottom. Not a real problem when in a bag, but for taking in and out and storing, could become an issue.
Is a little small for my camera to slide in with lens attached, but it sits nice and snug with the body sticking out of the top. Not the best, but works well in the bag I have it in.
Bought the insert as an answer to my long-time search for an inconspicuous camera bag. This holds my 75-300 lens and my external flash. I also bought the one compartment to hold my camera steady. My accessories fit nicely in the bottom of the larger one-compartment. Foam not the thickest, but will aid in protection. Close fit for less room to bobble around. Two items fit nicely in my North Face, semi-waterproof, small base camp messenger bag...Heading out now for pics on the go!
