Comments about Domke FA-240 4-Compartment Insert:
i bought this to see if it would work in my chrome messenger bags (mid and large). unfortunately, it would require a little more work, such as attaching the bottom board to provide more support. i decided to return it and go with the billingham hadley pro insert which has the all around support including a lid.

Comments about Domke FA-240 4-Compartment Insert:
This insert is useful to protect lenses and other items in my J2 Domke Bag. It also helps to separate items and saves time when searching for them.
However, the compartments are small and not adaptable for the larger lenses with hoods attached in reverse position.

Comments about Domke FA-240 4-Compartment Insert:
[...] The center piece that divides the unit into four pieces is a hook & loop connection and takes some effort to position where you want it.

Comments about Domke FA-240 4-Compartment Insert:
The inserts boxes are tall and thin. However the insert is not tall enough to completely cover a 70-200 2.8 lens so the end of the lens sticks out above the edge of the insert and it is not protected from above. You can fit a 70-200, 24-70, 16-35 and a flash. The problem is the pro lenses push each other a lot. The dividers are thin and I don't feel comfortable that my lenses are almost scratching each other through the thin dividers. Also it is pretty frustrating that the lens hoods don't fit in the insert attached to the lenses in any direction since the insert is simply not wide enough. The lens hoods take so much space away in my bag because I can't leave them attached. If you choose a Domke bag and you have pro lenses you are going to have to live with this some how. My father has a J2 Domke ballistic bag and the inserts are absolutely different and those work well with pro lenses.

I added this into a F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black) by Domke for extra padding that holds 2 extra lens and a flash with room for one more lens.
