[...]The strap is very close to the one that came with the bag in both color and size. It was a bit tricky to install so that I didn't have loose ends sticking out but once on the old bag it works fine. The instructions where OK but not detailed enough but it wasn't that hard to figure out. The trick is to study how the old strap is installed and take only half of it off at a time and install the new one the same way.

The strap is identical to the original that you'll find on a Domke bag, which means it's of the highest quality. But I'm giving it 3 stars because the description says specifically no sewing required because the hardware is included. This is simply false. You get the strap...and that's it. You need to supply your own thread and muscles because the strap is not easy to sew by hand.

This replacement strap saved my Domke F2 bag from what might have been the trash. The bag has has traveled the globe filled with my camera gear. I love it. A great bag, but the original strap was deteriorating badly (shedding gripper rubber everywhere). I saved the perfectly good bag and the replacement was 10% the cost of a new bag.

Comments about Domke 2" Gripper Strap for F-1, F-2, F-3, f-4 or F-7 Bag (Sand):
I got this to replace the strap on my 20-year-old F2 Bag. After all this time, and after not using the bag for many years, the rubber gripper material dried and cracked off. I recently got back into SLR photograpy with purchase of D90 and I am rejuvenating my old gear that is still useable...I really like the Domke bag and I really like the gripper strap. Note that on the original bag, the strap is sewn in place with one adjustment buckle. For the replacement, the directions have you use two of the adjustment buckles to attach the strap, making the strap removeable. Myself, I preferred to hand-sew in place permanently with nylon thread, as the original. I will probably get another gripper strap to replace the nylon carry strap for my tripod....nylon slips off shoulder too easily. I carry my gear on long hikes into the woods for nature photography, woodland scenes.

Great replacement strap for the long-lasting and ever reliable Domke camera bag. Will hopefully keep the bag going for another 10-20 years!

I have a 30 year old Domke F2 with close to 2 million miles on it. The original strap was just worn out and unraveling. This product fit perfectly. It's an improvement over the original which had a sewn on leather patch in the area that would contact my shoulder instead of the "gripper" strips on the replacement.
I'm not sure what the issue is with sewing. No sewing was needed, as both ends of the strap were neatly bound.
Product came with only 1 plastic triglide (the plastic or metal piece that the strap is weaved thru and used to adjust the length.) Installation requires 2. I simply used the original 2 metal triglides already on the bag.

I have a Domke F2 bag that dates back to 1998. The bag is still in good shape, but the gripper part of the gripper strap is shot. As a replacement strap, this one is good, as it acts just like the original strap. The only reason why this isn't a 5 star review is the new strap, unfortunately by neccessity, leaves you with loose strap ends. The original strap has all sewn ends, which was neater. It was great to get my bag back where it does not slip off my shoulder!

The bag still looks beat all to heck, but the strap is NEW!Somewhat difficult to attach (The product on Domkes homepage is not what B&H ships. Domke has the incorrect illustration on their page. Once I straghtened THAT out all went well.

My DOMKE bag is easily 25 years old. The strap has my last three addresses printed on it with Bunny ink, but the bag's better than new. It has a worn look news photographers love. The replacement strap says DOMKE's not just in it for the money. They make the best bags and they stand behind them.

Comments about Domke 2" Gripper Strap for F-1, F-2, F-3, f-4 or F-7 Bag (Sand):
Replaced the well-worn strap on my Domke F2 with this item and now the strap is new and the bag looks almost like new. Bag should continue to serve me well for many more years at a tenth of the cost of a new bag. The fix was fast and easy. I would definitely do it again. The quality and convenience photojournalists have come to expect and appreciate in Domke
