No more "Old Navy Mannequin" look here. I am sad that this product is discontinued. I am buying as much as I can safely keep and use. I have 8 100 ft rolls at the moment, and I am only shooting the cartridges.
I can say that in natural light, or artificial light with the correct filters, this film produces the finest colors of any film and the grain is simply invisible. For portraits there never has been nor likely ever will be a better film than this.
I do not like the artificially saturated colors of Portra VC or the new Portra, so I stick to this.

I'm not the greatest photographer, but trust me when I say this film is wonderful for those who strive for great and natural color. The film is great for portraits, which is what I like to shoot because the colors look so fitting. Those who wish for very saturated colors, you might not get what you want with this film, but it's still worth a try for all interested photographers.

The Photos looked great. I just wished I had gotten the 400 speed rather than 160. I found I could only take pictures when it was bright and sunny. It works best for static shots if you don't have a lot of light. As it promises the color is very natural and the grain is fine.

Using a Leica M-7 with a 35mm Summilux
1,4 Aspherical only, I was able to record some stunning photographs on my recent trip to Zurich and Berlin. I left the monster Nikon D-200 at home in favor of the compact and reliable Leica and Kodak's marvelous film. The results were breathtaking, and something tells me you gotta spend a lot of money to get those results from digital. Six rolls, and not a feather out of place.

Comments about Kodak Portra-160NC 135-36 Professional Color Print Film (ISO-160):
Since film use has declined greatly due to digital photography, film sources have disappeared exponentially. I usually wait until the last minute to order film. The last time I did this I ended up having to use Fuji film which, to me, does not have the range or beauty one gets using Kodak Porta. After the Fuji was all shot I immediately placed an order for 10 rolls of Porta from B&H. [...]Thanks B&H for being there!

Recently used some for outdoor portraits. Great latitude and contrast, with fantastic skin tones. I'm looking forward to trying more of it.
It does appear to be slightly grainier than I was expecting though.

I have to say that I prefer this to the VC variety. The VC film was just too saturated for my tastes.
The 160 NC seems just right though.

This film is perfect for the subjects I most often have in front of my lenses - people. It's intended to be a very natural looking film, and delivers. Accuracy is excellent and ISO160 gives me just enough grain.

I recently purchased a Nikon F100 and read several reviews before actually going out to buy film for my new toy and I can say, without a doubt, I am fully satisfied. The quality of the images were astounding! I would recommend this film to anyone for portrait and outdoor photography.

I shoot film and scan it digitally, with 160 NC. The colors came out very rich and saturated just like I wanted it.

Comments about Kodak Portra-160NC 135-36 Professional Color Print Film (ISO-160):
I have been relying on this film shooting sailing regattas out on the water. It is far less contrasty than trannies and makes for prints with a subtle black and white quality. I am not sure which medium is backing up which but for fine art, when the digital camera has failed to keep the highlights, this film has lent its rewards. It is a pity that mass marketing has led to the death of optical printing. It seems odd to me to be shooting in film only to scan it and make it a digital image in the final product. Someone mentioned A&I earlier, but A&I does not do optical printing, or didn't the last I knew. A lightjet print on photo paper processed through regular chemistry is not the same thing as a print exposed through an enlarger on color paper. If scanning enters the process at all, then it is editable in Photo shop. I would like to know if anyone would get better results in the highlights bringing a RAW original into Adobe RAW or by scanning film. If I am going to the trouble to shoot with film I am printing optical in the very few labs available to me.
