The Canon LP1219 Soft Lens Case is made to carry a Canon EF 100mm f/28, EF 135mm f/2.0L, EF 24-70mm f/2.8, EF 28-70mm f/2.8L, EF 50mm f/1.0L, TS-E 17mm f/4L or EF 85mm 1.2L USM lens. It has a drawstring closure.

Protects the Canon 17-55IS with or without hood installed. Great as dust cover within photo backpack. I wouldn't use it as primary protection (it is a soft case).
Downside: looks like every other soft case by canon in the bag (confuses the wife. Could have been included with the lens. Not sure why canon doesn't just charge $50 more and include the case & Hood for all lenses???

I got one of these cases when I bought an L lens and purchased this one for another regular EF-S lens that didn't come with a case. I really like how it protects my L lens and so I thought it would make a nice addition to my other lenses to help protect them as well. The good thing is that each case can fit a multitude of lenses so they are re-usable!

After buying it, I realized that hard case would be better. This soft lens case does not protect your lens in the event of accidental drop. Also, it's easier to carry with the hard case as you can hang it to your belt.
