...much longer than what I needed at 33 feet. It works, it's rugged and does the job I needed it for. Unfortunately I have to roll up over half it's length for my use. I use it on a boom that I developed for hanging over cliffs and vertically over crowds and other obstacles. A 15 foot would have been ideal for my use. Wish Canon would offer different lengths for this cable who need more than the standard 3 feet but a lot less than the only other option, 33 feet.

Since digital camera manufacturers such as Canon do not grasp the usefulness of a mechanical cable release they do not provide for it. (My understanding is that Leica does) Such releases were available at a great number of lengths and designs when I used mechanical cameras and I wish I could still use them. Instead we must use an electronic over-priced length of wire and when we need to extend it to 6 or 8 feet we have only the choice of a 33 foot over-priced extension. That is obviously too long for most work, but without it the electronic cable is too short. In my studio I use a camera stand which has two camera mounts, one on each side. I jury-rigged a way of winding the excess length of the extension on the second mount, so that I am only having a minor inconvenience in using the extension. It would be impossible to use in any rugged outdoor setting. It is, of course, just wire with the Canon plug ends and it works just fine in conducting the signal. Perhaps, until it gets stepped on.

I plan to use this to get close to small wild animals and birds. I can be 30 feet away in a blind and not get the creatures nervious by my presence. Would recommend that you shut off the beeping sound in camera. Leave some food as bait in a small area and manual focus on it. A close up lens would be the best lens to use, and place the camera at least 5 feet away. You wouldn't want the bird to deficate on your camera. LOL

The extension chord allows me to get into tight spots and set my camera down to take shots. It is always helpful when you are trying to photograph at nightime, as well. Long exposures are awesome!

I can't believe I waited 2 years to get this extension cord. I've been trying just to get a few candid bird shots near the house and the little 2 foot cord wasn't doing it. Every time I'd move to get near the camera to push the button, the birds would fly away. It was very frustrating. This is perfect. It's lightweight yet sturdy. I should be able to use this for a portrait of my own family too. I wont have to use the timer and run. I can also get out of the way with this length of cord.

Great Quality prouct to remotely trigger my 40D.Allows me to set-up my camera closer to my subject on a tripod and trigger the camera from up to 35 feet away allowing birds to feel comfortable at their nest and allow me to get some great nesting images without having to buy another telephoto lens and gives me more "reach" with my current telephoto lens ! the only negative thing I can say is I wish it were a bit less costly. GREAT PRODUCT THOUGH !!!

THE EXTENSION CORD N3 ADDS THE DISTANCE FROM THE CAMERA TO PRODUCE FREE SHOT OF NATURE AND LANDSCAPES. GIVES YOU THE DISTANCE NEEDED TO ENSURE PHOTO IS NATURAL AND UNAFFECTED BY VIBRATION/MOVEMENT. WORKS WITH MY 5D AND 40D.

The cord that comes with the Canon remote is far too short to begin with for most of the work I perform in a studio setting. This extension cord gives me far greater freedom to move.

This cord, although pricey, is a must if you are going to shoot further than the short remote release switch allows. It attaches easily and is very user friendly.
