This Lowel Egg Crate for the Rifa eX55 is a fabric egg crate that attaches to the front of the 500 watt Rifa-Lite eX. It reduces the spread of light to 40°.

If you love your Rifa Lites, you will love this Egg Crate. Sometmes the soft boxs spread a bit too much light in the foreground and need control. The egg Crate fits on quickly and allows you to taper and throw the light further out into the scene. I recently shot a downstairs bar at the new Fillmore in Maryland. I used the Egg Crate to send the light out to the middle of the scene creating added depth and removing the heavy front lighting that is common when the softbox is not used correctly or needs added diffusion. It is also nicely made of the same tuff material used on the softbox itself. I took it on the road without the supplied case and just used the velcro strap that also came with it which made it lighter and less bulky. It folds down small for travel.

If you use Rifa lite soft boxes, you must have the egg crates to go with them. They make all the difference in the world when shooting.

This product is a wonderful addition to my light package.
It allows me to direct the light from my Rifa and keep it from spilling into places where I don't want it. This is great for interview shots.

Granted while I think this item is overpriced by Lowel and B&H. Without it all you have is a soft flood light with the Rifa 55. It's made to take on a daily grind while focusing more soft light towards the subject. I must have if your using the Rifa 55 as a key light.
