This Lowel Egg Crate for the Rifa eX88 is a fabric egg crate that attaches to the front of the 1000 watt Rifa-Lite eX. It reduces the spread of light to 40°.

More and more I'm asked to shoot interviews along with some overlay and these shoots often occur in another state and sometimes in another country. The Rifa-light is perfect soft source in these situations because, being light and robust, it's easy to fly with. The problem with soft sources, however, is that they spill light everywhere making separation of the subject an background difficult. This is where the Egg Crate shines. Not only does it keep spill in control but, by panning the light you can control the amount of light on your subject.
By the way, I always carry full blue, half blue and 1 stop ND gels to match any ambient light I might find.
