This is a Dynalite 7" Four Leaf Barndoor Set with Filter Frame for mounting filters and diffusion material. It is used for shaping and controlling the spill of light. It fits on a Dynalite or Comet 7" reflector.

Barndoors, Snoots, Grids, and Filters are essential accessories for any lighting system. These devices alter the shape, intensity, or color of the light output from your flash heads. Consider them as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel.

Use of a barndoor set will result in a shaft of light, when it is attached to the front of the reflector of your light source. The size of the shaft of light will be determined by the opening of the leaves, and the distance of the light from the subject. Rotating the barndoor set will determine the angle of the shaft of light. A 4-leaf barndoor provides more light control than a 2-leaf barndoor set.

A built on filter frame makes it easy to create different lighting effects.

Comments about 4 Leaf Barndoor Set, Filter Frame for Dynalite & Comet 7" Reflectors:

If you use the dynalites with the 7" reflectors and want barndoors (and you do), this is what there is. Quality is fine, filter holder is fine, however the barn doors are a PITA to put on and take off of the reflectors. Maybe they'll bend a bit with age and get easier, but at least when new you have to really strain to get them to pop on and off and/or completely loosen the tiny and hard to access thumbscrew to 'open' the frame. If you put them on your lights and leave 'em, sure no problem. If you set-up and break-down on a regular basis you'll find them a bit of a pain. But hey, you get what you pay for- Dynalites ain't Broncolor, but they do the job at a much cheaper price.
