Replacement of Flashtubes for Elinchrom flash head models earlier than Style S involves loosening several screws on the flash head casing, and two screws at the flashtube socket base. Newer models have "plug and play" flashtubes that are easier to replace. With proper handling, these flashtubes may last for tens of thousands of flashes under normal use.
Some flashtubes are UV-Coated, or UV-Corrected. These tubes have a yellow appearance, and they counteract the excess blue 5700° or higher output of non-UV coated flashtubes. UV Coating lowers the color temperature to 5500°, which is the color of noon daylight on a clear day.

Comments about Elinchrom Flashtube - 2400W/S - for EL1000, S2, S2000, S1500N:
I love the light I get from the Elinchrom. The kit has so many possibilities, partially because it has a portable battery pack. I use it mainly for stylized action shots and outdoor portraits, it looks great just after dusk with a softbox on the key light. It would be nice to find a way to make such high quality light even more portable - lighter battery pack, a great lightweight pack fro the kit, etc. but I'm pretty happy with my experiences with the Elinchrom thus far.

Expensive but produces great quality of light. You get what you pay for. Bought as back up but haven't needed to replace yet.
