Although mail in slide processing has been around for a long time, the thought of trusting the national post system to deliver my hard earned shots has taken some time getting used to.
After problems with inconsistent quality from local E6 processing shops and professional labs moving away from serving your average amateur photographer, A&I have become the norm for my E-6 processing needs.
In the last six months of using A&I, slides have been processed and returned with consistently good quality.
Turn around times from Washington state is not exactly fast, with times running from 1.5 - 2 weeks. Considering that E-6 processing is not time consuming I was expecting turn around times of 7-8 days instead of 10-14 days.
Price is also not the lowest you will find, however with the consistent quality I believe it is worth every cent.
I do not have slides mounted so cannot comment on any problems with how A&I cut and mount them.
The sleeved transparencies I receive (not cut or mounted) are packaged in typical plastic slide boxes. The sleeves themselves however do not like to be coiled in a tight roll and tend to distort the film twisting it slightly. After days in the mail I find it necessary to have to hang the film for a few hours to straighten them out as they are difficult to handle as delivered.
Ideally I would have liked to have the sleeved transparencies sent in a larger package that did not have a tendancy to warp the film.
I would recommend the service if you do not require quick turn around and are looking for better than average quality for E-6 processing.

I was happy with A and I for many years, but this year one role was lost (out of two; I'm still waiting three months later). On the one I did get back I noticed a residue on the back of the film strip that I hadn't seen in the past. I scan them with the Nikon 5000 ED and I'm not sure the residue made any difference, but it still seems quality control is gone down. I will try the Fuji film mailers in the future.

Comments about A&I Slide Processing Mailer for E6 (Not Kodachrome):
I was impressed with the quality of A&I processing and mounting. The slides were free of dust, and the film was entirely flat / level within the mount. Perfect for scanning.
The return shipping took a while, about 2.5-3 weeks. However this may be due to the fact they will no longer be processing E6.
It is too bad that they no longer offer this service. I had been very disappointed with my local lab, but these guys gave some hope! Slide film is becoming even more obsolete then black and white with technological advances, but some of us still persevere!

I wasn't sure I would be able to get this E-6 film developed, so this was a happy solution for me. My only frustration in this instant-gratification world was the time it took waiting for development. But the results were fine. I recommend this product.

with the decline of good photo labs, these mailers make life so much more easier/better.

Comments about A&I Slide Processing Mailer for E6 (Not Kodachrome):
When I have finished a roll of slide film, I just fill out the form on the envelope, add either 4 First Class stamps or 1 One Dollar stamp and 1 First Class stamp and take the package to the post office or my hotel's service counter. I ignore the direction on the envelope that tells me to use 2 First Class stamps, as postage has climbed a good deal since that type was set.
What's great: I get my slides back in two weeks or less and they are bright, well set into frames, and generally clean. I think A&I change their chemicals frequently.
What's not so great: The envelope may be labeled as requiring only two First Class stamps. Current rates require $1.39 for the package.

Beautiful slide processing at a very moderate price. Just received some slides that I shot using Velvia 100 and my Leica M6 TTL with a 35 mm Summicron Lens. The colors are beautiful and many of the images look 3 dimensional. Highly recommended processing company.

The quality of the slides received was fine and they arrived within two weeks as expected. Unfortunately, only two out of the three films sent out for processing came back and after more than 3 weeks I am still waiting.

I develop lots of slide for creative art applications. I find mailing them to be better than having to deliver them and pick them up at the local photo store. These mailers are a touch higher than some but well worth it. The slides came back in a nice plastic case and were handled gently.

Comments about A&I Slide Processing Mailer for E6 (Not Kodachrome):
I've been very happy with the service and quality of the work done when I use these mailers. I live in NM and usually get my slides back from KS in less than a week.
And they LISTEN - I shoot a lot of non-standard size slide film for 3D work and often request "Uncut / Unmounted". They've always honored my requests and packaged the uncut roll of processed slide film safely.

I submitted two rolls of film in two separate envelopes, mailed the same day. One came back very quickly, high quality processing. I haven't seen the other roll yet and it's been more than a week later.

Comments about A&I Slide Processing Mailer for E6 (Not Kodachrome):
These are great and very convenient. Take them with you on vacation and drop your exposed rolls of film in the mail during your trip and you will have the finished slides waiting for you when you get home. They also help you save gas from not having to drive somewhere to drop off the exposed rolls and then pick up the finished slides another time. It is also getting very difficult to find any labs still in business that will process E-6 and these always return quickly and well packaged.

Simply put on 2 1st class stamps, put in your exposed film and about a week later your developed images arrive at your home for less than the local developer who'll take about the same amount of time. Great for amateur or semi-pros who don't need same day service.

A&I provides a good processing 'product' but I find the turn around time excessively slow from time to time (I think they have a new send-to address for the mailers).
