The Electro-Voice N/D478 Dynamic Cardioid Instrumental Microphone is a vocal/instrument microphone used for both recording and sound reinforcement. It features a sensitive Neodymium based magnet, providing maximum gain while maintaining a low noise floor on output.

The N/D478 incorporates "Vocally Optimized Bass" (or VOB) technology which effectively reduces resonant distortion at lower frequencies, replacing "muddiness" with warmth and clarity. The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing off-axis noise and ambiance caused by monitor speakers, ambiance etc. The N/D478 features a Warm Grip hand grip for added comfort.
