One word? EXCELLENT! Put a red stripe at the end of this lens...put an L-Series price tag on it and most 'so called' photographers will give this lens 5 stars. Don't let hype or lack thereof fool you....especially in this instance.
I choose this lens over my "L" glass in many instances because of the stunning portraits it produces. Great work on my 40D but superior on 5D Mark ii
What to expect:
Don't get me wrong this lens is cheap and plastic. You won't feel like a pro with this in your hands...you will feel foolish if you used high end glass before.
Slow focusing in low light...and occasionally in perfect lighting conditions
Extremely pleasing bokeh, especially at 300mm
Does this lens have limitations? Yes...I only use it in bright sunlight. I am grading it for the top notch images it produces when using it for what it was intended for. If you can work around these handicaps and know how to use a camera then be prepared to capture some of the MOST STUNNING portraits in your portfolio...I often have to look at my EXIF data to determine if I used my 85 or 135 because the images are THAT GOOD.

I bought this lens along with a canon T1i for my husband. Up untill recently he had been shooting with and older camera and lens set which was metal bodied. The most noticable diffrence between the two has been and weight and the focusing capabilities. The old lens would drag and pull something fierce on both him and any tripod he sat it on while this new lens hardly adds any weight to the camera despite it's size. A draw back I have noticed it a drop in ease of focusing with the lens zoomed out. Auto focus can be a hit or miss when shooting far away and manual is really difficult with out a tripod, and even then it's like having a hair trigger! Over all it's a good lens and really does get you out there it just takes some experimenting to learn the best ways to get it to focus, such as making sure to only use one AF point if you have multiple AF capabilities on your camera.

This is the lens I find myself using more then anyother, it's one that I could not be without. It's lightweight and useful in every aspect of shooting. I cannot say there is anything I have found that I don't like about it. I would advise anyone to purchase it and will say without a doubt that they would be very happy with it.

I bought this lens to replace a 70-300mm Tamron lens. What an improvement! Everything from the speed of focus to the clarity of the image is a great improvement!

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Autofocus Lens:
It's a great lens for day light shooting. Night time results are not as good.
It's probably because of my camera sensitity (Canon EOS Rebel XT). I guess
the aperture stop is not very big which also limits the night time results.

I love the lens. Bought it to take pictures of my daughter's athletics. I can really get a nice up close photo without getting too close to the action. Loved the price, the free shipping, and had the lens in 4 days! Will definitely buy from B&H again!

Great lens, took it on vacation and was very satisfied with every aspect of this lens. The only downside was the weight it's a little on the heavy side but all in all I would recommend this lens to others.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Autofocus Lens:
I got this as a gift from my bro. Its a really affordable lens but it's not the best in quality. Well what can u expect at that price. Very poor at low light and need loads of light!! No IS and not wide aperture so u barely have anything to compensate other than ur cam's ISO. Very poor auto focusing ability. It hunts for ages. But well for someone who is extremely short at cash this might b alright, if not save some cash and get the IS version or better!!!

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Autofocus Lens:
In the most clearest words, on a cloudy day, shooting pictures is sort of an hassle, 10 out of 20 pictures come out noisey. I would've love a more lower F-stop. But other wise than that, I think the lens is a simple to use, durable, and good lens on a good day, lens.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Autofocus Lens:
I have had this lens for about a year and due to my clumsiness had to buy a replacement. This lens produces some crisp pictures with sharp focus. It is perfect for tight crops on nearby objects, and excellent for distance. With the small aperture it also produces very nice bokeh. However in low light conditions you will have some difficulty with clarity. Overall though it is a great lens for those just getting into DSLRs.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Autofocus Lens:
When mounted on my Canon T1i, this lens is perfect for capturing images of musicans on stage, nature shots in the wild and around town. The zoom is just long enough for a photographer to not change "the story" they are shooting with their presence up in someones or somethings face. Imaging is great. Usability is wonderful.
