Originally I bought this lens for my son's 400D. However, before giving it to him, I happened to watch a soccer game in which my grandaughter participated. I carried with me my 5DMark II camera, but needing a long range lens I used this one. The result was amazing: Great vivid colours, sharp and quick focusing and very good images. Although it does not have an IS it functioned as if it did. I retried it several times during that trip, always surprised for the best.

This is a great lens for those starting out and needing a long range zoom. It is great for birding, etc as long as it is a sunny day. Overcast days will cause a challenge since the max aperture at 300mm is F6.3. You will probably need a Tri or Mono pod most of the time using this lens.If you can afford it get the IS version.

I had my doughts about this product when i saw it first. I felt is this lens going to be able to shoot birds as well as a more expensive lens. After shooting with it for a while i take back all of my doughts. This lens is great for shooting birds and wildlife.

For the price you can't beat this lens. It's not for low light and I miss the IS feature but image quality is very good. If you are looking for a modestly priced telephoto lens for outdoor use, without breaking the bank, this is it!

I bought this lens for an older eos a2e canon camera but it also fits my canon digital SLR and it works great on both of them. On my digital it becomes a 120-480 mm lens.
for the price you can't beat it.

I am a novice photographer. Object is used for pictures of landscape, portraits. I advise you to take pictures with good lighting. The lens is suitable for photographing objects at a remote distance. Easy to use, easy to remove, slow focus, silent. I recommend a lens for beginning photographers.

I returned this lense to get its big brother with the I.S. When I took pictures using this lense with out a monopod or tripod there was some noticeable lense shaking going on. Image quality was good when you had a solid base. Good lense if you dont have the extra bucks for the I.S.

I'm quite a novice when it comes to photography and this is the first zoom lense that I own. Having said that....I LOVE it! I've been taking some great pics of my kids doing sports - at a comfortable distance where I didn't bother or disturb anyone. The results have been amazing! Totally worth the money!

I bought this teslephoto lense to used it to capture sport photos and do portraits withouth having to be at a close range of the subjects.
What I thinks is great is the light weight and the focus speed is great and accurate.
The only fault is it is weak when lighting conditions are not optimun. However you can overcome these ligthing issues if have a camera that allows you to adjust the focal distance and the camera speed.

This telephoto lens has been great for a beginner. My wife's first camera and first lens! Anyway, she has been able to get some wonderful bird pics using this lens since she learned all about it quickly. She uses the Autofocus most of the time and the photos are crisp. Additionally, she is looking to buy more lens to fill out her photo skill set.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Autofocus Lens:
I bought this lens in conjunction with My new Canon 60d. It is almost exactly what I thought it would be. I say almost because I didn't read the minimum focus range distance, which is about 5ft. It isn't a major problem but something i need to keep in mind while shooting. While the minimum range is a surprise the maximum is just amazing. The distance that i can cover with just zooming is amazing and the picture quality at that distance is simply phenomenal. It's a canon brand so i trust it and it didn't break the bank, so its a win-win all around.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Autofocus Lens:
To understand why I am giving it 5 stars you have know that I grade equipment on a scale. For it's price the 75-300 is a good lens to start with. It is not as good as an L lens but it doesn't cost the same. This lens performs as advertised and for that it gets 5 stars.
I have used it to take pics during a kids basketball game and to shoot some outdoor scenes from afar and I am happy with it's performance.
Since it is f/5.6 at the zoomed in end of its range you have to adjust shutter speed and exposure to capture the scene but the lens doesn't claim to be anything else. In outdoor lighting it functions well with consistent pictures across the entire zoom range.
It is a starter lens and will be replaced by a higher quality lens with IS in the future but for now it does it's job well.
Autofocus could be a little faster.

Comments about Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Autofocus Lens:
I bought this lens for my little sister who has recently become interested in photojournalism. I saw she had some natural talent but her sports coverage was really lacking a close up feel to it.
This lens was perfect for her because it allows her to experience a decent quality lens at a very affordable price. I rated this lens a 5 because of its quality relative to the price.
The Good:
Price
Zoom range
The Not So Good:
It's definitely a slow lens
