This has to be the best built tripod for under $125.00to. Very sturdy and easy to set up. This looks and feels like a product that will last forever. Converts to monopod and has rubber or spiked feet. The consumer wins with this one. You get everything you pay for plus so much more.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
My first tripod, bought after all the recommendations here. It's very sturdy, and has great height, but it's just pretty large to carry around. Probably better for studio use than for lugging it around outside.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
So often are consumers concerned with price that manufacturers sacrifice on build quality to cheaper components. Not so with this Tiltall tripod! Every movable part is solid, metal, and built to last. From the moment I laid my hands on this beauty I knew I was a keeper. I am completely satisfied - and it comes with a case to boot! Extra bonus!

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
This is my second Tiltall. The first one is over 40 years old (I bought it new) and is still functioning but loose due to years of use and abuse.
The new Tiltall meets my satisfaction with one exception.
The main handle (vertical tilt handle) has a bit of slop in it. The handle shaft is about .4 mm under-sized, so that when it is loosened for to make an adjustment, it moves before the camera does - just a fraction of a millimeter - just enough to be annoying. The old Tiltall is built with zero tolerance in the handle with no slop.
Other than that, this tripod is sturdy, lightweight and a good value that should last me the rest of my life.

I needed something strong to hold a D200 w/80-200 f2.8 lens. This tripod wouldn't budge with this combo. Held everything tight and works perfectly.

I bought mine about ten years ago and have never had any trouble whatsoever. It is a very sturdy tripod and I believe it to be an excellent bargain. One leg is usable as a monopod, too.

Bought my first Tiltall in about 1971, natural
aluminum, used it in every possible photo project, will retire it now, for the new black
one. Great product

This is an extremely sturdy tripod, it adjusts easily. When adjusting it has a smooth operation. It's not as heavy as people make it out to be. But, not for backpacking. A short trek in the woods would be all. I consider this a great bargin.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
Used this for a few weeks now, with no problems! It doesn't have any bells or whistles compared with more expensive/pro gear. However, the tripod is well-made, excellent machining. My purchase came with a no-frils case that will do.
I have had lighter tripods, but I have walked over a few miles with it into the woods and back and am pleased with it. I shoot with an RB67, which is really heavy so the tripod is the least of my concerns!

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
It may not be the lightest or the smallest. But if you're looking for a stable platform for most SLR/DSLR cameras then look no further. If it's not broke, don't fix it. This is virtually the same model that I grew up with while my father was teaching me photography. The all metal construction assures durability and it's light weight means I'll be carrying it with me everywhere.

I love the fact that one of the legs easily becomes a monopod. Very clever. It is a little on the heavy side, but it stands true. Exactly what I was looking for.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this, and am happy I did so. I have been using this tripod with a Digital Rebel Xti ,100mm f2.8 Canon macro and 580 EX flash and it works wonderfully. Everything locks in very tightly and I never worry about anything slipping, and even though it is not a ballhead, I find it reasonably easy to adjust now that I am accustomed to it. When I first received it, it felt a little heavy, but now that I've had it for a longer time I find it comfortable to lug around (although, I wouldn't recommend it for hiking or anything of that sort). Long story short, you won't be disappointed.

I bought my Leitz Tiltall in 1975 and it is still going strong. It is definitely worn but solid as a rock. It can be heavy for long, outdoor use. After thirty + years the leg lock mechanisms are a bit stiff [perhaps they resemble the owner] I was thinking of replacing it but now that I am cataloging all its good qualities, why would I?

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
I recently purchased this tripod for a trip I was taking to the northwest. I used it for seascape sunsets and waterfalls mainly. It was certainly lightweight enough to carry everywhere we went, though not for backpacking. It is extremely sturdy, easily adjustable, locked in tight for vertical landscapes, and was very fluid even with all the sand it was exposed to.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
I recently used this tripod on vacation and it worked flawlessly. The tripod is extremely sturdy and can hold my D200 with a 70-300mm lens completely still at any angle.
I would highly recomend it to anyone wanting a very inexpensive and sturdy tripod.
I also don't think it is as heavy as some of the reviews made it seem, but I still wouldn't want to carry it around with me all day. The adjustment screws are extremely well made, but they are in kind of awkward positions and if you aren't careful they could poke you when you look through your viewfinder.
I think that the Pros by far outweigh the Cons. My previous unit was more of a consumer type of a tripod that didn't even last me 6 months because of all of the adjustment parts being made of plastic. It was almost the same price but not even close to the quality of this one. Everything on this unit is metal with the exception of the internal bushings which look like they are made of neoprene.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
I give the Tiltall a 5 star rating as a really good basic tripod. Its low tech, aluminum & brass, simple and sturdy. There is a retractable metal spike in each of the "indoor" rubber feet. Everything works well. It's not loaded with bubble levels, or quick release anything but take care of it and it will do its job forever! I bought this one to replace the one I gave to my son. That one was my first Tiltall... Brand new in 1978 and still going strong and on its second owner.

Comments about Tiltall ST01 Tripod with Head (Black):
I simply cannot believe the quality of this tripod. That it costs what it does seems like a mistake. This tripod outperforms others costing far more and I am sorry I spent so much money buying "cheap" tripods over the years. Anyone wanting a truly professional tripod at an astonishingly low price can't do better than this.

Using with a Nikon D40x with a 18-200 telephoto lens and SB-600 flash. This is thing is rock solid. It really does feel "military grade" in toughness. If you want perfect panning and no drooping for slow shutter shots then this is a great tripod. It is heavy and not as quick to deploy but it is SO sturdy. Buy and you won't be unhappy with it.

Sturdy tripod and easy to use. Locks in and out with no problem. Seems rugged enough for the price. Might be a bit too heavy to take on vacation.
