Ewa-Marine CD-5 Desiccant Silca Packs will help prevent condensation from forming inside a housing. Condensation will form in a housing when you take it from warm air to cooler water. Internal camera flashes being fired inside the housing will compound this problem.
Since the silica needs some time to act, give it about 10-15 minutes after closing the housing before entering the water. The CD5 is blue in color. Once saturated with moisture they turn red. CD5 can then be reactivated by drying them in the sun (only on a dry atmosphere) or in an oven. This process can be repeated up to five times.

Comments about Ewa-Marine CD5 Camera Dry Desiccant Silca Packs (5-Pack):
I use an Ikelite housing and a Canon HD video camera to shoot marine life in Hawaii where I live and other locales on vacations. After 20 minutes of use, the heat of the camera has been fogging the lens and making filming impossible. With just one Ewa Marine pack, the problem has been solved. When the silca turns pink, put it in the oven to recharge. They are small, effective, reusable and inexpensive.

Comments about Ewa-Marine CD5 Camera Dry Desiccant Silca Packs (5-Pack):
I use this product after a few hours being outside. The transition from cold to a warm room only calls for condensation in or around the lens which isn't wanted...These silica packets prevents all of this and thats why it's so great.
I cant find any flaws with this packet because it does have a color change when it needs to be restarted or replaced.

Comments about Ewa-Marine CD5 Camera Dry Desiccant Silca Packs (5-Pack):
Nothing like a little lens fog to ruin underwater photos. Works well and is re-useable. Its a little difficult to tell when the dessicant pack needs to be recharged. I find the price of all dessicant packs steep considering they are thrown in many consumer goods free.

I dove with the same muncher packet in the underwater housing for a full week. NOT a drop of moisture and no fogging problems the entire week. Fit easily in the housing and worked great.

Used them for my Fantasea FP-5000 U/W housing and it did what it was supposed to do.
Preventing condensation is quite important in the conditions the camera will be used whether the housing is left under the sun, or if the LCD generates heat will being in colder water, or simply if the region you are in is very damp.
(PS, if you're out of silica packs, you can try using tampons...)

I use these in my underwater camera housing. They are a good size for my ikelite housing, and prevent any condensation. They can be recharged by heating in a oven or with a hair dryer.
