Comments about Crown Audio Sound Grabber II Pressure Zone Microphone:

I use the Sound Grabber PZM to pick up 'low voice' deponents in civil and criminal cases where the attorneys are very loud. It is placed very near the deponent(sometimes I wish I could use it as a pin mic)and I isolate side noise with home made foam wings to blot some of the loud voices.
It does quite a good job unless someone starts pounding the table, tapping a pencil, or pounding keys on a laptop. I give one attorney a pad for his laptop - he still thinks he's using a manual typewriter.
I have used multiple mics but the gain on the quiet person was so high I got echo and reverb from the other mics. The Sound Grabber has been a good alternative.
I'm still searching for the 'perfect' solution.

Don't waste you time or money. Bought this in a fix for web cast interview. I had cheap $2 computer mics give me better audio. horrible sound quality and flimsy. Get a USB noise canceling mic or a Shure USB /XLR adapter with a dynamic mic instead.

I bought this microphone to capture a few small conference sessions, to realize that the Sound Grabber only captured sound immediately in front of it. Not at all what's advertised!

Comments about Crown Audio Sound Grabber II Pressure Zone Microphone:

This product succeeds in catching sound at a distance from the camera, thereby addressing the issue of camera noise/feedback. the device seems to pick up sound at least as well as my $500 camcorder. It would be a better product if the cord were longer; the 8 feet seems a bare minimum for that purpose and extensions are pricey. We had to have the sound grabber but would have been happy to pay less for it as well. It almost seems like something a person might be assembling in their basement.

Barely worth the plastic they used to make it. If you want a good unit, look at the CM11B by Samson.

I used this mic in a small focus group setting and it picked up our conversation well. I only gave 3 stars because it was making odd noises at the beginning of one recording, but didn't happen in the other two. I will continue to use this mic!

Comments about Crown Audio Sound Grabber II Pressure Zone Microphone:

The Sound Grabber 2 - Boundary Mic by Crown Audio really made a big improvement where we tried two other mic's that work well up close, but were not so great at picking up sound in a room, kind of an "in a barrel sound" The Boundary Mic really increased the clarity of conversation. We use it it a room where special needs children are evaluated and the mic is placed unobtrusively on the side of a cabinet and used with a network camera to monitor and record the sessions.
