I use this with my HVL 20DW2 10/20w LIGHT for my Sony camcorder. It is perfect for keeping my light hands-free as a I film, but I have had some issues with the shoe mount becoming loose and the light begins to bounce around. It's definitely a great addition, but you need to make sure to re tighten it on a regular basis.

I bought a shotgun mic but my Sony camcorder has a small hot shoe which wouldn't accept the mic mount.

This cute little bar screws onto the underside of the camcorder into the tripod mount (a tripod can still be screwed into the arm mount though so don't worry), and there's a cold shoe mount on the end. Works well.

Easily mounts to my Canon FS-10 to hold the external microphone. Whole assembly (camcorder, microphone and cold shoe arm) then mounts on my tripod for easy use. Tripod quick release mount screws into the bottom of the cold shoe adapter. Easily works on either side of the camcorder.

If you bought a shotgun mic and your SONY camcorder has a hot accessory shoe, then you need this item. My camcorder's accessory shoe wouldn't let me attach the shotgun mic so I had to buy this to attach to the bottom of the camera, then attach the mic to it.

Also helpful if your camcorder has only one accessory shoe and you want a light and a mic. It does not interfere with mounting camera on standard tripods. And I like the fact that when mounted on the right side of the camera, it gives a good grip to hold the camera with the mic attached to it.

Good quality that's for sure.

Not all of the Sony camcorders have the hotshoe option on top, including mine. I have an IR light that I need for my night investigating and the adaptor I was using for it broke. This new adaptor was a little different, but I just had to swivel the anchor and it worked brilliantly. This is hard to find in stores so it was great that I found it here at a reasonable price. Thank you for making it available.

I bought six of these to use with six CANON FS100 video cameras in our school's photo program. The FS100 has an input for an external microphone but no shoe of any kind. The Sony adapter allows us to mount a microphone on the left while having full access to the LCD screen. It makes the appearance more professional than hand-holding a microphone.

The problem I had with this was that the shoe mount would swivel around by itself. I had a canon HV10 camera mounted onto it, and maybe that is too big an "accessory" to have on it, but it wouldn't support the weight and the camera would twist out of position on its own. The shoe mount here is essentially riveted on, so you can't tighten it. I have used the Bescor VB50 which did a fine job with my setup, but it is a little more bulky with it's shape. Now I'm going back to the Bescor.

I bought this to use with the external microphone I had also purchased (on a different site). It simply screws in to where you would screw the base of the tripod into the camcorder. Never fear though, you can still attach to a tripod with this on your camcorder. It's a good attachment for the money.

This really helps hold a light. I have a SONY DCR HC-96, and SIMA 10 watt light. This helps hold the light so you can use your "hot shoe" for for a mic plug in.
