Ebtech SWIZZ-CT Swizz Army 6-in-1 Intelligent Cable Tester
The Ebtech SWIZZ-CT cable tester is an intelligent cable tester for use with 3-pin XLR, mono and TRS 1/4", mono and TRS 1/8", TT, RCA, and MIDI connectors. Supported test modes include continuity, intermittent (with delay), phantom power, grounded shield detect, and multiple test tones. Power is supplied by two (2) AA alkaline cells (not included).

This cable tester is a handy tool which makes troubleshooting and repair much easier. The only thing to watch out for is a fragile component (one of the internal chips is easily damaged by temperature or motion) - which is a known issue at the Ebtech factory. The first one delivered wasn't working, which is how I learned about it. It was replaced right away, and the one I'm using now has had no problems.

Well I started testing some cables but got bored because I already knew the worked. So I got out some old cables, they worked too. So I had to know if this thing actually worked. I started roughing up some old RCA, midi, and 1/4 TS cables.
Eventually I had some bad cables. Kind of an odd way to test the device but it was worth it.
Would have been nice to see an RJ45 tester on it since they are becoming more common in music production.
