I used this ring for other brand beauty dish thAt I have modified to work with profoto heads. THsi speed ring is almost like original profoto except it's not as deep as original but still works. If you want to use this witht a soft box you have too look for other brand outer ring because the diameter of this speedring is about 1/8" smaller than the profoto ring.
I think this is great solution if you want safe money by using this speedring with other brands modifiers.

My spring also wasn't seated properly so one side kept on popping out. Definitely doesn't inspire confidence.
But for the price ....

I used this speedring to modify a beauty dish from another brand so that it will fit my new Profoto heads. A bit of drilling and a few screws and my old beauty dish is up and shooting. This meant I didn't have to fork over a few hundred dollars for a Profoto Beauty Dish. Very much worth it!

The aluminum ring is smaller in diameter than my profoto rings so it doesn't fit.

Maybe buy accessories "generic" is not good at all, some do not fit and you have to make them work properly.
Not fit in the original speed Profoto ring, the diameter is smaller and not subject either the speed ring

I purchased this adaptor to convert my chimera speedring from bowens to profoto... but alas the rim is 2 mm short in diameter and fall straight through the speedring housing. Works on Paul C buff softboxes and mola dishes but not with other regular standard sized speedrings.

I used this to complete a custom light modifier for my profoto heads . Quality is great, it clamps down nice & firmly on the light and stays there.

Steel clamp rings broke in less than 2 days usage, Luckily I have large zip ties which worked better anyway. Flimsy metal collar.

From reading the post I see that some are having issues with using it on a softbox but for a Mola Setti it works great!

The SP Profoto speed ring is a great value for sure. For the most part it works great. The problem that I starting having was larger softboxes started slipping. The diameter of the collar is actually a bit bigger than Profoto's, which means it doesn't hold as well. It works great for my beauty dish, and smaller softboxes. I ended up swapping the collars from my Profoto reflectors, figure I don't need a super tight fit for 7" reflectors.
All in all, still a fantastic buy!

As far as I can tell, this is the exact same thing as the ProFoto version, for a FRACTION of the cost! I got it to use with my Larson backplate for my 4x6 softbox. I will be buying another one to make my own modifiers very soon! THANKS SP-Systems!
