The Varizoom VZ-PRO-L is a lens remote control system for DV camcorders. A true variable speed and manual focus remote control, the VZ-PRO/L utilizes the Control L (LANC) remote connector to control almost any DV camcorder including the Canon XL-1, Sony VX-1000 and the DSR-200A. Now for the first time, owners of these camcorders can use jib arms, tripods and have the same type of control found on cameras costing thousands more. Combination rocker and speed control dial allows you to vary speeds in a single movement - smoothly from a slow crawl to fast and then slow again. Also features manual focus control, universal tripod/crane mounts and a record light indicator.

Comments about VariZoom VZ-PRO-L LANC Zoom Controller:
I am using the VZ-Pro-L with a Sony HVR-5ZU and it works flawlessly. Very smooth zoom control and the variable zoom dial can be used actively during a zoom to increase or decrease the rate of zoom over a very wide range. This thing is build like a tank so it is not light, but my video head has a counterbalance feature so it was not a problem for me. I put a little felt on the inside of the clamping surface so it would not mar the finish on the control arm of my video head.

Solidly built unit, no frills which is exactly what I wanted. Adjustable zoom speed. Great unit, worth the price, not junk like a lot of rinky dink units out there.

Comments about VariZoom VZ-PRO-L LANC Zoom Controller:
I'm using the VZ Pro for sporting events. Having the record, zoom and sleep buttons next to the tripod handle allows for a higher quality ,finished product. The variable zoom knob is not in the best location - under the handle. My fingers hit it, unintentionally changing the setting. I have used it for 3 events since I received it and am very pleased with it. It comes with a bag and LANC wire so don't do what I did and buy additional ones.
It has a quality and solid look.

Comments about VariZoom VZ-PRO-L LANC Zoom Controller:
I bought this by accident. I thought my VZ-Rock Varizoom is faulty. I fell in love with VZ-Pro L as soon as I mounted it on my tripod. It works awesome with my XH AI, XL2 and GL2!
The unit is well design. Its handle offer an extended arm on my 501HDV pan handle. The record button and variable speed control are well situated for ease of use without having to look for them. The zoom speed variable control is a much welcome feature that provide a consistent zoom speed... this is a big plus compare with VZ-ROck.
The unit is bulky but very light. It does add some weight for counterbalance when mounted on my 501HDV pan handle.

Comments about VariZoom VZ-PRO-L LANC Zoom Controller:
I have 2 Sony PD170's and was looking for a handle mounted variable zoom for live shoots. The VZ pro L was recommended to me, and it really has worked out great. Not only does it function well, but is very solid in it's construction (metal) Not a disposable product. One I'm sure I will use for a long time. Also comes with a nice travel bag - a nice touch.
