This remote has limitied functionality on the Olympus SLR cameras. - Pretty much only works for the shutter control and for shooting in bulb mode. This will not automatically zoom your lens (SLR's can't zoom remotely) A lot of reviews I read about this remote say that the range is really poor, but that hasn't been the case in my experience. The remote triggered my E-500 from 20 feet away with no problems. This is a great remote that works with a wide range of Olympus cameras.

I was just looking for a simple remote shutter release for my E-500 DSLR, and this does what I need it to without too much hassle. I sometimes find myself using my camera mounted on a tripod, and I'd rather not actually press the shutter button during longer exposure shots to avoid shaking anything.I just got it today [...] and I can't say I'm completely blown away. The instructions say that I should be able to zoom in/out and access the review mode, but I'm not able to do any of that. I have to do my zooming and reviewing by hand, but at least the shutter release works. Perhaps Olympus should update their compatibility chart as far as what functions will work with the E-500 and which ones won't.The range is a bit limited, and I have to practically point it straight at the wireless receiver if I want to take a shot on my first attempt.All in all, this has lived up to my expectations - I don't have to release the shutter by hand, and that's just what I need it to do.

Works well with my oly dslr. Lets you set up a photo, without having to run into the picture. It has decent range for snapshots. It does not focus your camera it just simply activates and release the shutter.

Ideal for group photgraphy and portraits while using a tripod and can facolitate candid shots having subjects unaware of moment of picture. For close-ups and low light or slow exposure where immobility is essencial this is an indispensible accessory. A bit small so careful no to loose it.

I mostly use it as handsfree release, since most electronic cameras don't have the old cable release.

This will be primarily used for photographing scenery since my camera does not have a cable release slot. Camera will be on a tripod and I will make several different exposures of the same scene and process them using Photomatix.

First, I was surprised that the remote activates from the side as well as from the front of the camera. Do wish the 'W' and 'T' buttons were activated for use on the E-620, hence the 4 stars. Finally such a small remote needs a key chain or some method by which to secure it to a key chain perhaps.

Works as advertised. I used the remote about 20 feet away from my E-3 and it works perfectly. I wish they have a little string so I can clip it onto my camera back pack. The device is small and can be misplaced easily. BTW, it doesn't have the zoom in or out feature for the E-3.
