Ilford Ilfotec DD-X is a fine grain developer which gives full film speed. It produces negatives which are easy to print.

Correctly exposed negatives developed in Ilfotec DD-X have a full range of tones, with depth in the shadows, a smooth transition through the mid-tones and bright, detailed highlights.

Ilfotec DD-X is designed to complement the features of Ilford films, especially the range of Ilford Delta Professional films.

In particular, it is recommended for use with Delta 3200 Professionalfilm rated at EI 3200/36. It also gives excellent results when used with quality black and white films from other manufacturers.

Ilfotec DD-X is supplied as a liquid concentrate for one-shot use. Should be diluted 1+4 with water before use.

Development time in tanks (68°F/20°C) for Ilford Delta 3200 Film (EI 800): Diluted 1+4 = 7 min. (EI 3200): Diluted 1+4 = 9.5 min.

Comments about Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Developer:

I was introducted to this developer by accident. I was using Rodinal and when I couldn't get it, a friend "loaned" me some Ilfotec DD-X and I was sold from the first roll of film I developed. Beautiful negatives, good tonal range, fine grain with Ilford and Foma films. I have not tried it with T-Max yet.

Comments about Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Developer:

I use this to develop my 120 and 35mm film. I've used this product four times so far and I haven't had an issue and the negatives come out great. So far I've used Ilford HP-5 and Kodak Tri-X 400.

This developer is easy to mix and use.

A friend recommended this developer for use with Delta 3200 rated at 800. I tried it and it works beautifully. I have now made the combination my standard for low light film photography.

Comments about Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Developer:

In my 48 yrs using b&w film, I have never found one that is perfect for all films until I started using Ilford DD-X. It produces grain so fine on my 6x9 negs, it is difficult to find even when using the best grain-focusing tool. And the gradation between highlights and shadows is spectacular.
It is very easy to use. I use a 1-10 dilution ratio with all films rated E.I 100-400 (Fuji, Ilford, Kodak and Emke) and develop for 12 minutes at 68d with 5 sec. agitation every 30 secs. You may have to tweak those numbers to fit your own enlarging system, but it works for me on both my Beseler 23 and my Leitz enlargers.

Hard to find film chemicals anymore. Even local stores have to order the good ones, so why not order myself?

Used with Ilford B&W films this developer has given me outstanding negative densities. I shoot with a Leica rangefinder system and the results have been great so far.

My next task is to compare this to the T-Max developer on the Ilford film in terms of grain, but this is a fine grain developer so I am fairly sure Ilford Chems to Ilford film will win!

Comments about Ilford Ilfotec DD-X Developer:

This is my usual developer and I've used it for Delta 100, 400, and 3200; Pan F; HP5; and Kodak Tri-X. It's easy to mix, has no real smell, and works relatively quickly. It also develops pretty much all Ilford film, and is really your only choice for any Ilford films shot at 3200. I've been very happy with it and try to always keep a bottle on hand. It does have a shelf life so you'll need to use it quickly once the bottle is opened (in a few months.)
