The M-Audio Audio Buddy Microphone Preamplifier is an ultra-quiet, two-channel preamp that offers both features and performance, while still being affordable. In addition to being a microphone preamp, the Audio Buddy doubles as a direct box. This functionality allows high impedance signals from sources such as guitars or basses, or synthesizers to be recorded with optimal results. The instrument inputs are on the front panel, while the XLR microphone inputs are on the rear, along with the switch for enabling phantom power for both channels.

Comments about M-Audio Audio Buddy Microphone Preamplifier:
With D/I boxes, I really do believe what you pay for.
Many other products out there do a fine job, but I have had quite a few go south on me, but this cheapy I have used reliably for years and then sold, (regretted) and now bought another.
As far as features it's pretty limited, but it does a great job for supplying phantom power, and getting 1/4 inch jacks in (guitar and bass)
Altho I doubt it has the right impedance for these instruments...
I still use it in that application.
It's very very quiet.
Pretty transparent.
Doesn't hold up against a $1,000 dollar DI box.

Good specs for the price. Very convenient and functional for feeding a computer input with line-level. The front panel Hi-Z input is handy too for plugging in an instrument on the fly...

Comments about M-Audio Audio Buddy Microphone Preamplifier:
This is a great little pre amp, but it lacks some clarity I would expect even at this price level. However for home and non-critical productions it's a good budget choice.

Comments about M-Audio Audio Buddy Microphone Preamplifier:
It's definitely not a professional piece of equipment, but it gets the job done. I run it into my computer through a 1/4 in cable, and run a Perception 100 condenser mic into it. It gives decent sound quality, a lot of background "fuzz" if you don't take care of it through some kind of software, but overall, you get what you pay for, and this is definitely well worth it's small price.
