Mamiya Focusing Screen Type "C" Microprism Spot (for Non-AF Lenses) for 645AF

This Mamiya Focusing Screen Type "C" Microprism Spot is optimized for critical manual focusing. It has a central microprism focusing collar which will help those who have difficulty focusing with a plain matte screen. This screen is still calibrated for the camera's metering system.

Mamiya offers three interchangeable screens for the 645AFD camera

Checker SD 402 - Same as Matte, but with perpendicular grid. The grid pattern is ideal as a compositional aid. Grid intersections also useful as reference points for multiple exposures
Matte SA402 - All matte with Fresnel lens, suited for general-purpose photography
Microprism Type C - for Non-AF 645 Lenses - Same as Matte, but with central microprism spot added. Provides an alternative Rangefinder Spot screen for enhanced focusing precision with the manual focus lenses. When using the manual focus lenses in the stop down metering mode, this screen must be used

Comments about Mamiya Focusing Screen Type "C" Microprism Spot (for Non-AF Lenses) for 645AF:

Once you getting into Mamiya 645 AFD/I/II/III world, you realizing how many fantastic manual lenses out there for this mount.

One culpit - in order to focus you have to trust into AF confirmation blinking light, which is great help, but it does not really work that well in complex situations. Or can be very irritating (when flashing both >< indicators). AF systems prone to errors. That is where your eye is to be judge. But on standard screen is VERY hard to do manual focus - you got nothing to compare against.

This screen comes in and rules your world from the start. Installation is breezy (comes with all the required tools and instructions), and you can focus with microprism circle like you wouldnt believe it.. After few rounds you start to forgetting about AF confirmation and judging shots just by eye (which is WAY faster), and getting fantastic results.

It wont affect any aspects of metering either, which is great. And unlike most of split screen aftermarket focusing screens - it does not going totally black in center when you go f5.6 and tighter.
