A fast optic for the 39mm screwmount rangefinder cameras, the Nokton features all-metal lens barrel construction and a 10 bladed aperture diaphragm which creates pleasing out-of-focus highlights. Click stop aperture movements at half-stop intervals makes subtle adjustments in exposure or depth-of-field easy.
The Nokton lens is unusual in the rangefinder field because of the use of modern aspherical lens element fabrication technology on the rear element. The lens is constructed with two aspherical surfaces and one SD (super-low dispersion) glass element. This maintains the high level of image quality that rangefinder customers have become used to while keeping a highly competitive price point.
A standard L-mount is used for this lens, making it compatible with Voigtlander Bessa R & L cameras as well as classic cameras from Leica and Canon with the venerable 39mm screwmount design. If you desire to use this lens with Leica M, Voigtlander Bessa T or Konica Hexar RF cameras, use the adapter ring (catalog number 45BD209A). This lens retains rangefinder and viewfinder coupling with all the combinations.

Comments about Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens:
I bought this lens as an alternative to an expensive Leica 50mm Summilux. The optical quality is excellent with nice bokeh. But after six months of average use, the lens filter and aperture rings got so loose that they were about to fall off. The lens was sent back to Japan for repair, but I ended up with a refund. Back to Leitz or Zeiss from now on.

Comments about Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens:
I bought the lens to use on my Canon 7, which is a rather large 35mm Leica Thread Mount (LTM) rangefinder camera. I actually prefer smaller f2.8 range lenses, but the Canon just looked strange with a small lens, so I bought the Nokton. The Nokton is big, fast, and has gotten great reviews on [@]. The build quality is outstanding. It has half-click stops on the aperture ring, and comes with a hood and a large all-metal cap that fits over the hood. I have taken several rolls of film with it now, and find that it has outstanding image quality and bokeh. I have since sold my Canon 7 and now use this lens on my Voigtlander Bessa R, which does not seem to have enough base length for proper focus at apertures near or at maximum. The 50mm Color Scopar f2.5 might be a better lens choice for the Bessar R, but the Nokton is not that much more expensive, and it is big enough to have more of a "pro" look to it which you might find useful. Overall I am well pleased with this product.

Comments about Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens:
I wanted something that would work in the blues clubs I frequent and in low light outside situations. This lens fills the bill.
I was pleasantly surprised by the highlights which complement the outdoor portraits I have done with it.
I would reccommend it.
