The Color Heliar has all-metal lens barrel construction & a 10-bladed aperture diaphragm which creates pleasing out-of-focus highlights. Click stop aperture movement at half-stop intervals makes subtle adjustments in exposure or depth-of-field easy.

A standard L-mount is used for this lens, making it compatible with Voigtlander Bessa R & L cameras as well as classic cameras from Leica and Canon with the venerable 39mm screwmount design. If you desire to use this lens with Leica M, Voigtlander Bessa T or Konica Hexar RF cameras, use the adapter ring (catalog number 45BD209A). This lens retains rangefinder and viewfinder coupling with all combinations.

Comments about Voigtlander Color Heliar 75mm f/2.5 Lens:

I've been using a black Heliar for about 6 months on my Voigtlander Bessa R2 and Leica M6 TTL .85. I love how compact it is, not much longer than a 50mm. It gets me into a scene just a little tighter without drawing attention with a big lens. Also makes room for more film in my bag!

2.5 is fairly soft but acceptible for portrait work. By f4, particularly at close distances, the Heliar is razor sharp. Perhaps one of the sharpest lenses I've used. Sharpness doesn't quit all the way to 16.

Bokeh is really smooth, noticably smoother than common Japanese lenses and closer to German quality.

The front ring containing name information is a bit loose on my copy but does not appear to affect the mechanics. I expect the black paint to wear off fairly rapidly as has been the case with my Nokton 50mm 1.5 but this kinda looks cool anyway.

I have placed black gaffer's over the meter markings because they are white and catch my eye faster than the deep red foot markings.

The hood is very sturdy and being that I don't use filters, I prefer that the lens cap fits the hood instead of the lens.

The lens has a really nice feel overall, fstops click easy but surely and focus runs smooth. The rings are easy to grip.

Easy purchase!

Comments about Voigtlander Color Heliar 75mm f/2.5 Lens:

This lense is a great addition to my Bessa R3M camera. I like the light weight of it but also the quality build and finish. It's a great buy as well. I shoot b+w film exclusively and this lense delivers. For the mount, I needed to add the 'M' adaptor which fits perfectly and feels like it was built onto the lense (which is where it stays)

Comments about Voigtlander Color Heliar 75mm f/2.5 Lens:

I've got both a 35mm & 50mm Summicron lens for my M Leica's. I wanted to get the 75 to pair w/the 35mm. The lens has a 'retro' '60's look. It's solid, goes from infinity to close focus in about a 1/4 turn. The fit & finish is excellent. I shoot black & white street scenes and candids. The f/2.5 opening is of minor importance; when I need to, I shoot Neopan 1600 w/the lens. I'm very pleased with the results: sharp images, good contrast. If you buy the lens, don't compare it to Leica glass, a more accurate comparsion would be the classic 105mm f/2.5 Nikkor. A moderate priced lens as compared to the Leica lenses of the same length. Go for it.

Comments about Voigtlander Color Heliar 75mm f/2.5 Lens:

I bought this lens for my M8. So it is mostly for digital purpose (I didn't try on the film M yet). Anyway, the lens is very fast, good at all apertures. Low fringes at the highlights edges, but if you shoot DNG you can retouch with camera raw. Cheap and reliable. Lightweight but well constructed.
