I shoot a lot at night and motion shots and I have done this without the release but more often than not there in some movement, not with the release, everything is rock steady.

I made my own pistol grip for my Fugi S2 intraoral camera, lens and ring strobe. This shutter release fits into the Manfrotto handle perfectly and allows greater stabilization of the camera.

Comments about Hakuba Metal Covered Cable Release with Lock - 20":
While not quite as slick as a $50 release, I haven't had cause to regret spending a little less, and it's certainly far more sturdy than the cloth release it replaced. The tremendous diameter takes some getting used to, but doesn't have too much of an affect on flexibility.
As with all button lock releases, I did find the screw-down knob tends to screw itself down and possibly jam down the release cable; I've taped mine down semi-permanently.
