The black 2249 Sub Compact Camcorder Case Extended from Tamrac is part of the TEK Series Broadcast and Cinematography line of professional-quality cases. Slightly larger than the 2248, the 2249 is specially designed to accommodate the Canon XL1/2 with the MA-100 Microphone Adapter/Shoulder Pad attached and fully extended. Constructed of 1000 Denier waterproofed Cordura, the zipper-opening main compartment is completely foam padded and reinforced with plastic armor for excellent equipment protection. There is additional foam-padded armored protection for the view finder.
On the front is a large ZipDrop pocket with internal organizer pockets for accessories, plus a full-length zippered mesh pocket for smaller items. Dual zippered pockets on the back provide convenient storage for documents and accessories. The military spec. black EDP-coated hardware prevents unwanted reflections. The double webbing handles have comfortable leather wraps for carrying comfort and the heavily padded, detachable shoulder strap has a non-slip leather shoulder pad to take the strain out of carrying a heavy load. Heavy-duty YKK self-healing nylon coil zippers have convenient ZipClip zipper pulls for fast access.

I use the 2249 Sub Compact Camcorder Shoulder Bag for its intended purpose. The bag is very well-made. The padding is adequate. Marketers claim that it is suitable for carry-on, but I have not yet tested this. I think the bag is longer than most airline carry-on dimension limits. The bag is pricey, however.
