The Porta Brace AR-PMD650 Audio Recorder Case is a foam padded case designed to carry and protect a Marantz PMD-650, PMD-670 or 680 Recorders. The flaps, clear vinyl windows and protective coverings provide access to cassettes, batteries, cables, dials and switches. There is extra room for spare cassettes, batteries, wireless microphones, and other small items. An HB-10 suede leather shoulder strap is provided.

I have owned several PortaBrace mixer and recorder bags over the years [Sure FP32/33, SD MixPre, PSC M3] and they have been uniformly excellent, of course the usual bullet-proof PB construction applies and it is packed with usability features. Wear it slung over the shoulder or with shoulder harness when bundled with a mixer. Easiest to control the recorder start/stop functions with the Marantz wired remote, especially if the rain visor is in place.
I don't know how the elves over at PB do it, but every control and connection is accessible: battery compartment on the rear, i/o on right, memory card and power on left, display & rec. controls on the front. The whole top hinges away to reveal the controls there by pulling down on the two zips w/ red lanyards. Can attach to other PB mixer cases front or back, but you may loose access to the small front pocket. If something does break or wear out eventually it can be sent back for repair economically.
My only complaint and it is a minor one, is that the case is rather tight on the recorder. I removed the stock shoulder strap studs from the recorder to ease entry and exit. Once in the case, the recorder is snug and completely secure and could stay there for life if you wanted.
